  • Ahh never mind found the instructions
  • How did you do it ? I would like to know please :)
  • yes, i have been having trouble getting the premium content to load on both my Mac and my iPhone.  This started happening after I renewed my membership.  Help?
  • For the premium you have to manually add them. You can find out how to find those links in the various other threads (there are a bunch and I currently don't have quick access to them). I believe they are also accessible via your BM profile page. You copy/paste that url into the IPhone/iTunes app (manually add podcast click + in top left corner, click add podcast). Once the URL is added you'll be prompted for your username/password. You'll then enter your BM username/password and it will be added to your podcast feed.

I think the problem for us iPhone noobs is that there is no way to do this in a 'phone-only' way. I have a strained relationship with iTunes at the best of times and was getting pissed off that despite paying, I was not experiencing any difference in content. I have never used any other podcast apps, so Firehose feed, Overcast, etc., are foreign concepts to me. Also, if you navigate the baldmove site on your phone and click Ad-free feed, it opens the News app and then does nothing. I think a little blurb about podcast feed basics (or a sticky post) in a link along with membership confirmation email would help a lot. I use my phone for podcasts and my computer for porn-- never mind.

Hey all, I just posted the solution here:

I really suggest abandoning the iPhone app and downloading one with a better design and more features.

Bucknerwh, I hear you. I'm not really all that technical when it comes to this stuff. But with a little research it is fairly simple. I would suggest using Overcast for your app player. It may cost three or four dollars but it is worth it.

Once you have it, follow my directions below. The ad-free feed opens in News because of a malfunction.

What I did was copy the url on my computer. (I got the link from a page that I have also linked below.)

    http://yourusername:yourpassword@baldmove.com/feed/ad-free

I then sent an email to myself and opened it on my iPhone. Copy it. Now go to the Overcast app, or another, and add it to the podcasts you subscribe to. The Firehose feed is all of the Bald Move podcasts in one place. You can find out more here:

Let me know what you decide to do.

The technical support document that contains info on how to add the feeds to the various apps is located on the front page of Bald Move.  Click Account, then "Premium Features", and the tech support link is a bit down the page.

In the past two months we've updated the emails people who buy memberships and who request support at support@baldmove.com automatically receive to include these links.  We probably need to do more, but it's infuriating that practically no podcasting app platform really supports authentication.

The ultimate solution to make this easy peasy for everyone is a Bald Move app for Android, iOS, and Winphone.  I couldn't make a promise on when this will happen, because it will be a pretty big investment by our standards, but it's going to.

Thanks, all! I had forgotten which thread I commented on, since I didn't start it, but it seems to have worked! Any thoughts on why certain podcast apps are 'better?' I have tried a few podcast network-specific apps (e.g., Podcast One, NPR), but they have not enhanced my experience at all. I was kind of hoping for a bald move app, but I will settle for the Firehose feed during year 1 of my Bald Move experience.

I like Overcast because of the Smart Speed feature which compresses silences in the podcast and speeds up the rate without sounding as artificial.  On the go playlist organization could be better, though.  I hear Podcatcher added a similar speed function, I've never tried that one though.
