Hey thanks for starting this. I see you broke with tradition by not posting incorrect writing and directing credits. Edgy!

  • WHAT. NO YOU DIDNT JUST FUCKING DO THAT ESMAIL

  • @ A_Ron_Hubbard - I got choo, homie!
  • So...

    What. The. Actual. Fuck.

Even the post-credit sequence was a trip.
  • Ok seriously, what the fuck. I cant even with this episode. They're clearly talking about time travel at the end right?

    So many questions. Sheesh.

    Damn you Sam Esmail!

Seems that way.  Was I seeing things, or when the brownout happened at Angela's apartment did the car headlights start going backwards?
  • I thought i was nuts but yeah I definitely thought that too. There's a lot to unpack in this episode. Reddit is gonna have a field day. I seriously thought they were gonna fucking kill elliot for a minute. I still don't know how i feel about this episode

well... I definetely enjoyed the post credits scene! Kind of a spoiler seeing Joey Badass in the credits and not seeing him the entire episode.
  • It's so bizzare that this of all episodes is the episode that ends like 10 minutes early. Do you think there's anything to that? is that because a scene was removed for next season? Rami already teased that he filmed a scene for next season. Did white rose erase the last 10 minutes of the episode? Is any of this real? am I real?

It really seems like this had to be part of last weeks "2 part" finale.
  • Mr Robot: the new show about nothing.

Maybe the brownouts are because they're charging up the Delorean, maybe Doc Brown was just off by a few commas and the flux capacitor needs like 1.21 petawatts.

  • I mean this is almost surely about time travel now. I'm kinda convinced. Also, this episode proves that Tyrell is really alive right? Can we throw some water on the Tyrelliot flames? Like I know technically he could have shot himself but I think that shot was supposed to be the wake up reveal to the audience that Tyrell is really there right?

I think I loved this episode, but I'm also kind of furious how little got resolved. This is probably the most confusing show I've watched. Lost confused me but I started to unambiguously not like that show towards the end. This show just breaks my brain.

  • The ridiculously meta USA commentary by Dom's boss when interrogating Darlene made me chuckle.

I also appreciated the very subtle nod to BTTF II when Tyrell was pointing the gun at Elliot.

  • Ok so just to run down what was confirmed in this episode for my own sanity:
    1. The FBI were on to F Society, Elliot and Tyrell this whole time.
    2. Scott Knowles was the one sending JoAnna gifts.
    3. Mobley and Trenton are alive and somewhere in hiding (im sure there was a clue on the license plates, I still have to go back and watch the episode)
    4. Tyrell is (probably) alive and worked with Mr Robot to orchestrate blowing up the E-corp data backups.
    5. Stage 2 is wiping out all paper and electronic records of property ownership and debt.
    6. Elliot apparently has a stomach of steel
    7. Angela and Tyrell were in contact this whole time. She has been involved in stage 2 seemingly.
    8. Romero was killed in a freak accident, slowly unravelling F Society in the process.

And my speculation based on that:
    1. Elliot will survive the gunshot (although I don't know where worlds most wanted man took Elliot, considering he made it sound like he was still with Elliot when he was on the phone with Angela)
    2. Darlene is fucked, as are the rest of F Society.
    3. If and when Elliot recovers, I'd assume that Angela, Elliot and Tyrell will either be on the run/in hiding. (they mention it'll take a few months to gather all of the paper records so the blowing up of the building will probably be middle or end of next season, based on the way Esmail likes to pace this show)
    4. Apparently all of our crackpot theories aren't that off base, because the after credits scene DEFINITELY implied time travel. what that means for the show going forward I don't know. I'd feel really cheated if they erased the entirety of the series and got back to the beginning before the 5/9 hack.

I just want to say, if we're getting a side plot where Trenton, Mobley, and Joey Bada$$ start fucking time traveling adventures together, I'm all for it.

  • Also, sweet burn notice burn, Esmail.

Not too sure about #7... I think Angela was just put in contact with Tyrell after her recent encounter with Whiterose / Dark Army.

That reveal about Romero was pretty sick though.

Well this was part 2 of what should have been 1 extended episode (last week and this week together). The way SE films it wouldn't surprise me to hear he took something and moved it to next season. He's treating this show as a "novel" instead of these self contained seasons that loosely tie to each other. He shoots things out of order and then edits them back to make episodes we see.

I would say yes, this espisode was showing Tyrell is alive and "well". I'm not sure how much was really left unresolved really (phase 2 was "detailed") even if not explicitly, this show never really does that.

I live this show, it makes me go WTF a lot and attempts to as some say break your brain. The ending I thought was brilliant to hook us IMO next season. The Tyrell " I love him" to Angela's 180 from this entire f'n season being the incontrol one knowing the bigger plan. I can say this episode ended on a high note for me and I really look forward to next season.

Yeah idk I'm back and forth on this. She seemed so familiar with him on the phone, like she'd been talking to him for months. When he said that he loves Elliot, didn't she say "I know"? It'd be weird for her to know that if she just started talking to him though. But you're right that one could go either way.

Yeah I mean honestly after sitting with it I agree with you. It frustrated me but in a weird way that's really satisfying. This show deals with a ton of really interesting intricate mysteries and unlike a show like lost, I can tell Esmail knows where it's going. The fact that he tends to gaslight us only adds to my enjoyment of the show ultimately. Put it this way. If you told me at the beginning of the season that the whole show could eventually become about time travel (which it undoubtedly will if is introduced as a plot element) I'd say theres no fucking way this show could get there and not make everyone rage quit. But after that slow build-up of a season, I think I'd gladly follow SE there. Well done.

Yeah there are a lot of little low key details in this episode that make me forgive a lot of what we thought was wrong about this season.

I'll be interested to see how they explain Elliot's release from prison when he was literally at the center of the FBI's investigation into Five/Nine.

I do wonder how this would have played if joined back with last weeks epsidoe. I think it might have been too much though, because last week was a trip in itself.

To add a little of the Elioid theory, when he was blacking out the synthed Mr Robots voice.

Also, to add a little fuel to the Tyrell may not be real, both him and Mr Robot stepped back in sync when Elliot was moving towards them. When Mr Robot shot him in the head it was a "quick shut off" the stomach shot would seem to have this effect even if not real. Oh and yes I'm just throwing the previous as a crazy counter argument.

I assume they knowingly let him out, assuming he'd further cause chaos and possibly even lead them to Tyrell. That whole python thing Dom was talking about.

Yeah in retrospect that would have been WAY too much to unpack. Fuck i can't shake the feeling like the time travel stuff might be a misdirect. But it's so explicitly teased, especially in the end of episode tag. It can't mean nothing.

Also, remember that the end credits scene of season 1 opened up the show in a whole new way and set the stage for the backbone of season 1. Not saying this is definitely true of this scene but it could be.

  • @Degausser24 #5 is actually only paper. They already wiped out the electronic data as part of phase one. They know that EXorpbis trying to rebuild everything from the paper documents they have. The mistake is that ECorp is centralizing all of the paper so they only need to hit one site to finish the job.

Also, if you take a look at the blueprints agin you'll see they had an "ER" in their building. It seems that they are fully staffed and ready to go (thus the tech in clean room suit controlling elevator). It was probably a quick trip to a different floor to get him "patched".

Was that the blueprints to their building though or E corps? I definitely need to comb through the episode and take notes but that makes sense.
