Wow... that trailer makes this movie look like it's going to be another Prometheus failure. Having them rolling around without suits on is a slap in the face to everyone who called bullshit on the dumb shit they did last movie. Then they went ahead and slapped everyone in the face again by having the generic heroin say "...we don't know what the fuck's out there."
There wasn't really anything in the trailer that stood out to me and made me feel like it was going to be good. And that part at the end in the shower? Makes me think they are going 80's horror movie.
It appears I'm the only one on here that enjoyed Prometheus haha. Can't wait for this.
Me too. It seems there is no discussion about Blade Runner or Covenant anywhere on the internet where someone doesn't take the opportunity to say how awful Prometheus is and I'm over here getting a little butthurt (but just a little) because I LOVED Prometheus. Sure the characters made dumb decisions and sometimes the movie's logic doesn't hold up, but that's just movies.
@Frakkin T yeah that's me. Sometimes I wonder if I'm watching the same movie. Plus it's has some fantastic visuals. I think even the story is entertaining.
There's some deleted scenes that actually make the movie even better.
So, while I would agree that Prometheus was great looking and the concept design of all the tech was great, I really kind of hated it. If this is related to Prometheus, I'm a little worried.
that scene when the two main characters debrief the other scientists pretty much sums up my distaste for the film. specifically this exchange:
"So you're just going to disregard 300 years of Darwinism on a hunch"
"Its what I choose to believe"
There's so many things wrong with that, from referring to evolution as "Darwinism" as if it is itself some kind of religion or belief system, to a "scientist" choosing to believe something is true that has absolutely no evidence behind it and does in fact contradict everything we know about biology. It would be one thing if it took itself less seriously but Prometheus was parading around like it was a hard science fiction story.
Some people treat Prometheus like it is in the same category of awful as the Star Wars prequels, it's not nearly as bad! Although I do admit to having a bias when it comes to the Alien universe, I will defend Alien 3 and Resurrection until the day I die!
I liked Prometheus, flawed at times as it was. i might be reading the trailer wrong, it looks like they dumped the Prometheus plot totally for a brand new crew with a new fassbender bot and pretty standard Aliens story. If it doesn't tie into the engineers and Prometheus plot I'd feel the most robbed , as it was pitched early on as the follow on journey of Shaw & David to find the engineer home world.
guys, I am just tired. I am tired of seeing movies about other movies that i have already seen.
This movie looks good, better than Prometheus probably, but ya know what's crazy about Covenant, I already saw it, That's right, early preview - It was called Alien and it was amazing! You don't have to wait till May guys, you can watch it right now!
I feel shitty complaining, and I shouldn't complain. I am just not showing up anymore for movies that i have already seen. No matter how many Micheal Fassbenders you put in them.

I enjoyed Prometheus and own it on Blu Ray. There will always be haters. I'm always up for a Ridley Scott film, due to the sheer power of his visual storytelling. I like the slow, intelligent burn of his films. Sometimes, the story suffers a bit but all in all he is a creative visionary.

This I believe connects the Prometheus to Alien "world". Don't think it's a true "Prometheus" sequel, but rather "universe" related.
I am thinking there will be another Prometheus movie to do the Engineer homeworld.
John Logan wrote it, so that's an immediate upgrade from Prometheus. The main thing they seem to have corrected is making this some kind of military expedition with normal crew. That will make the inevitable mistakes seem a lot more plausible and natural. Prometheus had some of the smartest people on earth acting like children, but I don't think that'll be a problem here.
What does look like a problem is the continuation of this black parasite. Aren't Xenomorphs and Facehuggers enough? Now this unkillable black stuff is back and it'll be explained or connected in some way, grinding my interest to a halt.
Is anybody else excited about the potential Xenomorph wheat field scenes? One of the early drafts of Alien³ featured Xenomorphs running through fields and killing monks on this remote religious outpost. It always sounded like a cool visual and there's prominent shots of fields in the trailer!

I need to go back and watch all of the Alien films. Or buy a great blu-ray collection with all of them.
This looks great! Forgot Demian Bichir was in this.
There's some deleted scenes that actually make the movie even better.
EDIT:fat finger typing
