New spoilery prologue video to Alien: Covenant that shows what happened right after Prometheus with Elizabeth Shaw and David. Leads up to when they arrive at the new planet where Covenant takes place.

Really hoping they cover this in Covenant.. I know a lot of people dont watch these promotional videos. They also previously released footage showing a fake commercial for the new Walter synthetic that Michael Fassbender plays (they've made it public that he's playing two roles - David on the planet and Walter arriving with the the new crew). The commercial gives it a Westworld feel.

  • I saw and really liked this prologue. I'm an outlier in liking Prometheus though.

I enjoyed Prometheus as well. It wasn't earth shattering, but it was enjoyable. I think some of the dislike is based on the viewers' expectation heading into the theater.

That and leftover hate from Lost since Lidleof was attached ;)

I liked Prometheus. Never understood the hate.
  • Sorry to nitpick ... but technically this is an epilogue to Prometheus, and a prologue to Covenant.

Anyway, I'm also pretty intrigued about them landing in the Engineers homeworld (if that's where they are), I also hope that is part of Covenant. Seems like a waste to go to the trouble of designing and filming that whole setting for a 2 min promo.

I generally liked Prometheus too. Thought the core cast - Fassbender, Rapace, Theron, Elba were really good. I think initially I didn't like it as much because of excessive stupid decision making by the "secondary characters" and Shaw's boyfriend, but in subsequent viewings I just kindof let that stuff go I suppose.
  • David getting ready to drop the black goo bombs! Love it!
Shit, you shoot me in a dream you better wake up and apologize.

Whichever you cut it, Prometheus is a log. A stinky, steamy, goo filled log.

But yeah, this prologue looks awesome, and now I'm excited about the movie. As a whole that is; I was always pumped up to see Kenny Fucking Powers fist fight a xenomorph.
I just want to be famous enough that a porn parody gets made about me.

Count me in as a Prometheus fan.  First non-Stringer role I saw Elba in, first time I can remember Michael Fassbender in anything.

Upon re-watches I've come to like Elizabeth Shaw and David more and more.  I just loved the tone and atmosphere of the movie, it felt very immersive.  I liked the reasoning why they went to that planet, the pure exploratory mindsets most of the had.

I never had any special affinity for the Alien Franchise, and had only properly seen Alien at the time I saw Prometheus.  That probably played a part.
That'll put marzipan in your pie plate, bingo!

I disliked Prometheus at first (Alien and Aliens are in my top 5 favorite films ever), but after reading up on details I missed, I liked it a lot more on the rewatches.  I think Ridley Scott's idea will come together nicely, Prometheus just happens to be the top of the funnel for Scott's plans.  Covenant looks like a welcomed step in the right direction that will narrow down some of those ideas presented in Prometheus.

Plus, I think they have nailed the casting for the most part so far.
  • I am still not a big fan of Prometheus, but I love David as a character and Michael Fassebender is fantastic. This prologue/epilogue makes Covenant more intriguing, but I'm still cautiously optimistic after my disappointment with Prometheus

I just wonder if David and Walter will share screen time. It's always tough to pull off scenes where the same actor is playing two characters interacting, unless you're Eddie Murphy of course.

From what I can tell, the Walter/David androids will be given a backstory as far as how how they are mass produced to assist humans, and it seems like Walter will be with the crew when they arrive at the planet that David and Elizabeth Shaw landed on. Then I guess they will run into David while their their.

If so, there's all kinds of weird possibilities with that.
