That's amazing they managed to misspell both Bald Move AND Jehovah's Witnesses within about 10 words. ("Bald Moves" and "Jehovah witnesses")

It's funny about the "absurdly long" part, because I remember there being a time when they would apologize each episode for running long... And then they suddenly doubled-down -- stopped apologizing and the episodes each got a half hour longer.

    That is pretty complimentary too

Yeah, the guys as bastions of rationality and logic in a crazy world.

Absurdly long?  Wait until they discover Dan Carlin!

  • The quote for those who don't want to click,

    ----------------
"Even further from a traditional current affairs beat is the endless stream of podcasts about TV shows produced by Bald Moves. The two hosts, who are ex-Jehovah witnesses from the Midwest, record absurdly long podcasts where they just chat about the latest episode of Game of Thrones or Westworld. Their success (20 million downloads, and counting) may look like another embodiment of the futility of pop culture, until you realize that part of what they do for hours on is to meticulously debunk crazy fan theories—patiently drawing a line between the factual, the plausible, and the ludicrous. Which seems like a useful skill for a democratic public to have."

Those Bald Moves guys are pretty cool.  I'll have to drop Juliette a line and say thanks.

Couldn't have said it better myself
  • Absurdly long? I would not mind if the podcasts where longer. As I always say, podcasts take as long as they take
  • akritenbrinkakritenbrink Lynnwood, WA (Seattle area)
Yeah  - I wouldn't call them ABSURDLY long haha. They are on the long side, but there are a lot of podcasts that go over an hour, and that's what pausing is for. For those of us who live in cities with ABSURD traffic, it's very helpful to have a reliably long podcast to listen to on the commute.

Nah they aren't absurdly long. That award goes to Retro Gaming Roundup. Their episodes are 5 hours long.

Um, it's much more than that, lady.  They talk about the philosophical perspectives on beetle-keeping FFS.

@OldGriswold Not to mention the important discussions about how much it would take for @A_Ron_Hubbard to give it up for a sheikh.

I love them Bald Mover fellers. Don't even care that they're ex-Johannasburg Witlesses.

They also have long convos about stuff like if dudes who can suck their own weenus feel more like they're getting it or giving it. But they didn't expound on if it feels more like you're caressing a dude's bearded face who's giving or if your having your beard caressed while getting. Wait what?

I think the "absurdly long" quote deserves another Atlantic contributor body slam!

(EDIT: My bad. The body slam was the Guardian, not the Atlantic)

My beard is a finely tuned sensory organ. Hands and beard are like one. It's the Alpha and Omega of sensory experiences. Seriously, it's taken the bulk of my will power to just not absentmindedly stroke it in public.
