Game of Thrones sets new ratings record for S07E04

Despite the leak it seems they pushed another record (10.2 million). This does not include online viewing either.

HBO doesn't seem to really give a fuck. They're like "Look, as long as the memos about limiting ethnic roles and the receipts for executive trips to Boystown, Thailand don't get out, who cares? This shit we're putting out is so damn good people will buy subscriptions and watch just so that they can say they were there."
I just want to be famous enough that a porn parody gets made about me.

They are starting to crack down on pirating. This was especially good news since the episode leaked early. I know a number of people that watched it, but then watched again Sunday night. Personally I wouldn't touch it since it was crappy quality from what people tell me. Im a quality snob when it comes to GoT.
  • I don't really see the point in watching a lower res version of an episode I'm going to see in a few days anyways. Like if the entire season leaked a few months back then sure I'd probably watch it just to avoid spoilers but I can wait a week to see a spectacular episode in the high quality it deserves.

HBO should probably get better at preventing these leaks though. It sort of ruins the discussions and prediction aspects sometimes.

Can't wait to see the ratings totals after the first night and including streaming.

I was happy to see that the Star India episode leakers weren't able to rain on their parade (not to be confused with the idiots who pointlessly hacked a script and emails). If anything, though, the leak helped the ratings. You had thousands of people hyping the episode for 2 days before it aired, plus just the many stories on social media about it happening that kept the upcoming episode on everyone's mind.

Yeah I don't even like watching on the app because sometimes it slows down a bit or the resolution suffers when there's a lot of traffic. I usually just wait for it to come on HBO for real in Pacific time.
