i just saw that and I’m 100% excited! A_Ron and Jim take solid episodes, and not so solid episodes (I’m looking at you GoT), and baldsplain then to greatness!

I took a year off from season 2 for some reason before binging it last week. Such a good series, and the second season was better than the first, imo. I do wish it had a more expansive scope of the city, like how the Wire did for Baltimore, but you still get a good cultural overview of NYC and I particularly love the time leaps. The season 3 premiere didn’t blow my mind, but it’s definitely more of the same high quality. I will say I might prefer this show in binge-mode, because it does kind of lack end-of-episode cliffhangers that keep it on my mind week to week.
  • OMG. This show has hit my formative years. Back in the late ‘80s, I was the publisher of “Consumer Electronics Daily,” a daily guide to what was going on at CES. We printed about 30,000 copies a day and left them at hotel rooms and had models pass them out at the entrance to the show.

At that time, VHS porn was already big. But video stores were, for the most part, local “mom & pop” outfits (Blockbuster didn’t exist...yet) that catered to their community. But they all had a curtained off area in the back for the x-rated tapes. So porn was a big part of CES and actually selling tapes to store owners was a big part of exhibiting there. (You could get great deals on the last day!) By then, though, the porn booths were in a completely different hotel and eventually split off to be the Video Business Show (which we also published a magazine for.)

My best story (besides playing blackjack with King Kong Bundy) was when I won a contest for a date with Kitten Natividad (a Russ Meyers model/actress...look her up). You had to guess her measurements, weight, height and shoe size(!) to win. I had all my models cruise the booth and give me their opinions before I entered. I won, but the “date” included her husband and a rep from the video company. But at least they gave me $100 to game a bit. I lost it all. But I still have the photo of her and me.

@Jim @A_Ron_Hubbard The 303 podcast ends kinda abruptly without an outro. Was it intentional or was something cutoff? The 15 people that listen to this podcast are furious!

I just listened and was also saddened at the abrupt ending. Even though I was somewhat suspicious at the 33 minute run time, I still cried a little when it fell flat. Then I got over it. Now I’m back to being weepy.

I didn’t want to say anything for fear of getting Cecily in trouble. Maybe the guys won’t see this thread. Or maybe ARon fell asleep mid-sentence during the podcast and accidentally hit the publish button. It could happen!

Okay, a few tips: don't @ my bosses when you don't want me to get in trouble.  I thought that was obvious but I guess it needs to be said.

Secondly, I uploaded the correct episode this morning!  Just try deleting and re-downloading the episode if it doesn't work for you the first time.

  • I didn’t @ them but I guess I did add to the problem. Sorry about that. I really hope you weren’t flogged.

Cough three times in succession during Lunch tomorrow if you need us to alert HR or the BBB or Tony Stark or someone to free you of your slavery!

Will re-download for the remaining Deucy goodness. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for being a good sport. The floggings were kept to a minimum.

However, if it happens again, I have the power to suppress your complaint.  Not that I would, but...if I think it's a matter of local security, then I will suppress your whistleblowing.

  • Well I am catching up on the podcasts so im not sure if this will be brought up...
I am a self described former "90s rave kid" and its hard to put into words just how important the club they showed in this episode is to the whole DJ/Club scene. The Paradise Garage is an epicenter of inclusion. A mostly gay-black club in the eighties, but accepting of all it had LEGENDARY DJ Larry Levan at the decks (and I think they tried to show he was spinning in the episode.)

If your interested its definitely "worth a google".

5 days is a long time in the cocaine/baby laxative world.

So intrigued. I normally watch real-ish time, but I was out of town, and then out of habit I clicked here. Very very intrigued and happy to not be spoiled. I’ll be back tomorrow.

  • Its like when the show goes out of its way to prove everything Jim and Aron say in the first 5 minutes. In regards to the David Morris storyline.

@A_Ron_Hubbard was so right! Of course he made this same prediction every season.

What an amazing episode. I've been psyching myself up for this for three seasons and it still hit like a ton of bricks.

I was kind of holding it together, until it planned out and Big Mike is slumped against the wall, quietly sobbing, and I'm like well fuck, we all crying now.

  • I knew it was going to happen, you can only screw the "system" for so long before it comes back to bite you.  But what a lame way for it to happen.  Not remotely "professional" as the mob world goes.
  • What a great episode. Almost something to say about every scene.

My only complaint is that Eileen’s “realization”...I forgot what its called meat hammer? ham fisted?

My biggest fear is for Lori. I don’t see that arch ending well.

Frankie off the bus in the “Italian Stallion” shirt...awesome.
