Blade Runner 2049 no spoiler thread

Holy crap! Loved this movie! Deakins needs to finally win his Oscar. Hope everyone else enjoys it. Ford, Gosling were great, everything was great imo. What did y'all think?

I thought the plot had one too many moving parts, but otherwise that was one slick ass movie. Deakins killed it yet again. There were so many breathtaking shots.

I liked it, but I did have a few criticisms.

    - Visually stunning. Every frame could be in a gallery.
    - Too long. The first 30 mins were ponderous.
    - Blade Runner is hypnotic, Blade Runner 2049 is moody. I prefer hypnotic.

I can't wait to see this!!
  • I havent seen and Blade Runner anything. Should I watch the original before seeing this? (Dumb question is dumb)
  • @gguenot yes, watch either the directors cut or the final cut.

I was about to ask the same question. Going to try and stream it this weekend.

Probably, but you might find it tough to get through.  The SFX holds up, but the pacing and construction is a bit dated.  I'd go for the original and not the Director's Cut, too.
  • The original is very much an 80's movie.
