Jim and aron are their nicknames?

On this week's and last week's lunch the guys hinted towards it now I'm confused. What is going on?

  • They’re pseudonyms. Similar to Mark Twain. Did I just compare Jim and ARon to Mark Twain? You bet I did and Samuel Clemens would be honored to be in such company.

  • I have it on good authority that Jim's real name is Joey Joe Joe Jr Shabadoo.

I have to admit I've always thought Jim Jones was a curious choice.  I get the Jim part as Jim Kirk.

But, there has to be one other famous Jim.  How about Jim Rockford?

They are cult leader names. Well, Jim's is and A.Ron's is a letter off.

yeah jim is not jim. If you realllly dig deep in their catalog his real name slips out but i'll leave that to you to find lol

I remember years ago i was listening to some of their older stuff and someone calls Jim another name and I was like kinda bamboolzed

Yeah, I always forget that part.  I never think much about A.Ron's last name these days.

    Makes sense.
  • Personal arrogants used to name drop Jim all the time. I think A.ron said his name was Aron, with only one A.
  • They are cult leader names. Well, Jim's is and A.Ron's is a letter off.
Wait, so his name is Akron and he's from Ohio?

    I've never seen it spelled.

I always heard it as Hey Mon.

    A. Ron let slip Jim's real name once on a podcast sometime last year, but I haven't heard it since.  When I sent their Christmas gifts last year, I addressed Jim's to him with his real name but felt so weird about it - even though it's his real name, he'll always be Jim.  A. Ron's dropped his left and right.

Yeah, I thought those were their real names for the longest time.

In hindsight, I feel silly. I knew "hubbard" was a false last name, but I really thought that Jim & A. Ron were unfortunate enough to receive strange names like "Jim Jones" and "A-Ron".

Shout out to Key and Peele's A-A-Ron sketch.

Early on, it always seemed odd to me that ARon would off-handedly be discussing something with the understanding that we all knew Jim Jones was Italian.

That’s the worst name I ever heard...

Do they still introduce themselves as A.Ron Hubbard and Jim Jones? Or just Jim and A.Ron?

Because I know they used to do the full names in the intros but I feel like they don't anymore ...

A.Ron and Jim's real names are Al and Joe respectively. They thought they could fool us!

I have an email from breakinggood@baldmove.com circa 2011 with Jim's real name, mwuahaha. He's really nice in the email... time has hardened him.

Well hell, at this point they are cult leaders. And you just know those creeps had it in mind when they started down the path. Well played, Jeans and Ferrari, well played.

  • Before they switched payment platforms for the Club the PayPal invoice would have their real last names on it too; I remember because the first time I thought my PayPal had been hacked, I was like "who the fuck are these weirdos charging me $5??"

Don't worry your secret identities are safe with me.

So is Jim like Voldemort or The Man in Black?

(I've also heard Jim's real name, but the more I try to remember it, the more blurry it becomes. Hey wait a minute...)

Jones is a classic and highly authentic Italian surname.

I'm curious as to what Jim's actual name is after reading all of this. But I'm taking a page from the Leftovers: "I think I'll just let the mystery be"

Jim is an android; therefore his name is whatever his creator decided it to be. But he has also emailed me with an email address that includes his real name, yet still signing it "Jim." Probably a bug.

Totally agree @akritenbrink is right, there was an original 'Jim' who went by a more Italian moniker, but I always figured it was a Dr Ford/ Bernard situation.
Aron removed the original 'Jim' replaced him with the good old Jim Jones we know and love today, because his vision of a purer podcast experience clashed with Aron's desire to milk Harry's razors and Casper for as much as possible.  Like Dr Ford, Aron is now pulling the strings to keep his twisted podcast empire alive

It doesn't look like anything to Jim.
