  • They basically wrapped up Star Wars and Marvel (outside of a very few things). Excited and nervous all at the same time.

On the Marvel perspective, I like that there's a clearer avenue for the Fantastic Four (or rather specifically, Dr. Doom) to join the MCU but I really hope they don't stop what Fox had been doing with Legion, Logan, and Deadpool. I would want them to treat Fox like Miramax or I will be sorely disappointed if they disney-fi the Fox-Marvel stuff.

Pretty cautious about this but at least we're one step closer to this crossover:

Agreed legion feels like a universe incompatible with the MCU, that should be kept intact. As far as how the integrate the x men, fantastic 4, etc im putting my faith and in kevin feighe and the russo brothers. At this point there's no reason to believe they'll screw this up. They know the source material too well; they've somehow managed to please fanatics and a general audience

I'm seeing a lot of worrying on social media, but I'm 99.9% positive that they aren't going to change anything regarding Fox's popular entities (Deadpool, rated MA TV shows on FX, etc), outside of rebooting and combining the comic universes.  None of the adult content is ever going to become kid-friendly. To me, it's just a ridiculous notion that any company would do that.

It would be like Disney buying a successful porn studio and turning it into a Saturday morning cartoon channel. You don't buy an entity just to destroy everything that has made it successful. They would literally have thrown their money away.

Although, I'm not sure how exactly they combine the current X-Universe with the current MCU without rebooting them. They would have to reboot at least one or both universes for it to make any sense at this point.

This might be what Feige was talking about when telling people in vague terms that the Infinity Wars movies will be the end of the MCU as we know it, and everything after will be very different.

I was just made aware that Anastasia is now a Disney princess. I mean, not formally, but YES. That has always been a great tragedy.
  • I'm sure the company that bends copyright law to its whims will handle owning like 90% of IPs anyone cares about very responsibly.

What, you mean everyone doesn't want Disney and Rupert Murdoch to become even more rich and powerful? The Murdochs are now the single largest Disney shareholder. Isn't that exciting. I like to call this new company D Corp, like Mr. Robot's E Corp, except the D doesn't stand for Disney.

  • IMO what you're going to see happen is

Avengers Infinity War 1. Infinity War 2 in 2019.
THEN in 2020 the Avengers crew will be gone and X-Men will be the way of the next few years.
Then in 2024-ish, they can do a return of the Avengers.

It's a smart move, but this is MUCH bigger than gaining a few comic book rights.

  • Between this and net neutrality we're entering the bleak, distopic, corporatist future of my dreams faster than I could have imagined.
