  • @Chinaski I am literally praying Deakins finally wins for 2049, but I do think the Academy doesn’t like him for whatever reason...

Side note, it was *so* awkward watching Ryan Seacrest conduct red carpet interviews with a 30-second delay while Giuliana Rancic sat at an offsite location trying to act like nothing was wrong.  However, Taraji P. Henson served him some low-key shade.  #timesup

I think this is one of the very few years when I haven’t seen a single one of the nominated films.  I’m here for the gowns tonight.

Sam Rockwell is a boss.  Good for him.

Dunkirk scooped up all the sound categories. Well deserved!

    Viva la Coco!

    Very satisfying Oscars so far.
  • Best editing just went to Dunkirk. That’s usually an indication of best picture, but I still think it’s 3 Billboards, or a shape of water upset

saw Dunkirk in IMAX. i can tell you the sound was out of this world. definitely deserved to win the sound category. the scene with the bomber had the entire theatre rumbling.

Dunkirk also had a very unusual storytelling mechanism that required perfect editing. so not surprised it won there either.

Baby driver got robbed in the editing category is all I’ll say.
  • HE FUCKING DID IT!!!!!
    ROGER FUCKING A. DEAKINS!!!!
  • I'm really glad that Bladerunner 2049 won both Visual Effects and Cinematography because it's probably the best looking movie I've ever seen and was criminally ignored in theaters so it needs all the recognition it can get.

Gotta disagree, Baby Driver had great editing in the first 20-30 minutes but then it sort of just tapered off after that. Dunkirk on the other hand was edited in a fresh way I've never seen before and is by far the best part of the movie to me. Honestly overall I thought Dunkirk was rather dull but it was only the editing of the three different timelines that kept me into it.

  • I really hated The Shape of Water so it totally figures it wins best picture hahah

  • Stunned three billboards didn’t win. I didn’t like the film. But the Best Picture always go to the “little movie that’s could.” Thank God not this year! Congrats Del toro!

  • Can't believe Baby Driver didn't win for sound editing or sound mixing.
*dons tinfoil cap* It was because Spacey.

Also, I still don't understand the hype around The Shape of Water. It was a good, solid film, but nothing stood out to me about it.

I wanted Get Out to win, and I expected Three Billboards or Lady Bird to win.

I haven't seen The Shape of Water and I just have no, no desire to even now.

But maybe we can get a Lovecraft movie!
