I used to manage a store at Sun Valley Mall in the early 2000s! Do you remember the Discovery Channel Store? And yessssss to the Rasputin love!
hmm i don't recall a Discovery Channel store. those were my stomping grounds mostly in the mid-late 90's. i vaguely remember when a plane crashed into that mall when i was a kid.

It was in the middle, upper level, across from Macy’s. It used to be The Nature Company but that was before my time. And yeah, I remember the plane crash! That was scary
My washing machine had an error message that meant it wasn’t draining. After YouTubing I was able to fix it myself. Took me several hours to do this, (not complicated but accessing the drain pump required pulling washer out, disconnecting from water, unscrewing an unnecessarily large amount of screws, unclamping hoses, draining out all water, then putting all back together)
Anyways I found and removed a penny in the pump and now the washer is working beautifully
just feels good to be a successful do-it-your-selfer! And I feel grateful to all the helpful YouTube videos out there. And I guess I am one penny richer. All good things
I don't remember if there are any other users here that are interested in genealogy, but I've been working on my Ancestry.com family tree for a *very* long time and have made certain notable discoveries here & there. I made another last night and called my mom to let her know (since it was on her side). Just hearing the surprise and happiness in her voice and how it kind of blew her away just made my heart smile. Still thinking about it today.

Had something similar happen to me earlier this summer with my lawn mower. Took to get it checked out, the repair guy said it would be $125-150 depending on what they found. And it would be about a week. Went on YouTube, found my exact model with the same problem. I needed to clean the carburetor and replace the spark plug. Like you mentioned, it wasn’t too complicated, but it still took me a couple hours. I’m guessing we had similar feelings of accomplishment after being done.
While I was at Old Navy earlier, a little girl (maybe 9?) smiled and told me I was pretty and she liked my makeup. I told her thank you, that it was very sweet of her to say, and that I liked her top and that unicorns were my favorite (they're not, but you know). The smile on her little face after that just completely melted me.

We've got a new manager at work who's name is Zahro and everytime I see him I can't help but say of Zaro zohan ducksauce in my head and it makes me chuckle inside every single time.
It may be old news to some of you, but I just found out that this exists...
”Titanic: the Legend Goes on”
From the year 2000, a Disney-style animated movie with both human and talking animal characters... about the sinking of the Titanic. It is... boy... it is somethin’ else.
Filed under one of the weirdest scenes to that I have imagined apparently happened next door in a tuxedo shop that my boss just told me about.
The Man Trout and The Dude (Duder, His Dudeness, El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing) were in the shop to help the owner move. Apparently aside from owning some of these shops he's also a designer of some note, and apparently with some pretty iconic friends. I'm sure it wasn't what was happening, but I picture the two of them hauling displays onto a truck or something. On one hand I'm super pissed that I didn't see this with my own eyes, but I'm choosing to be joyfully confused that it even happened. Weird.
House keeping and maintenance at deer camp. Usually just me and my Dad but I brought the fam and my dad forgot the varmint cage so we’re out here again today just me and him. Can’t let an old man out here alone in the heat. So I’m out here again with my steel toe shitkickers on making sure this ice cold Fireman 4 is being attended to, and offering moral support and supervision. We’re gonna hit up a local church picnic to pick up a chicken plate. New feeder has a fancy corn window. I wonder what the poor people are doing today.

That is one of the most Texas things I've ever read. jk, sounds like a good day with your pops.
These last couple months haven’t been good but right now what’s making my day is xanax, MythBusters and texting with a old friend that moved out of state and is dealing with very similar problems. It’s good to vent with someone who understands.
It’s also good to catch up with you all and read what’s making your days better.
Lastly I dodged a big bullet by picking up some important supplies today instead of waiting until tomorrow which was the plan. Somehow I talked myself into doing it today and I saw they had signs up they would be closed tomorrow. That would’ve really bad and would’ve ruined tomorrow for sure.
I've been trying to do more drawing and painting and what not lately. It's been really fun. I'm terrible, but it's just fun to start with a blank slate and turn it into something. It's a good outlet to just throw myself into. Anyhoo, I made this over the weekend and (in the scope of being something that I made) I think it's pretty cool.
They had brisket as one of the options in the cafeteria at work today and I was the 2nd to last person to get it before they ran out. It was delicious.
Pretty sure I brought this one up in the music thread a little ways back, but I'm listening to a bunch of Fiona Apple today and it feels relevant. So Extraordinary Machine is my favorite of her records and I had heard that they ultimately made it twice; once with Jon Brion and once with this dude who was famous for doing a bunch of work with Dr. Dre. The Brion one was shelved by the record company and remade with the other dude. Turns out that the Brion version is totally on youtube and so you get to hear this totally different spin on the tunes. It's better in spots and the released version is better in spots, sometimes it's kind of a tie, but it's so damn cool to be able to hear this new (to me) version of this record that I love. Also, and probably even more so why it's relevant today is that Pitchfork put out that she will have a new record next year. Yay! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdVG02exVUU&list=PL3AA6EC2C32A843A8
