Cheated a hangover. Went to bed at around 5 this morning after a concert, bar session, and after bar drinking with friend. Went to Babe's for a pre golf lunch, played golf, and even managed to buy a ridiculous sweater.
My new hat was wild during Laser Tag this weekend. Had to represent the S.W.A.T.
My kids had to put up with this Christmas crank but I demanded they wait to decorate the tree until I bought 600 more lights and now you can see this tree from outer space. Nothing sadder than an under lit tree.
Oh and Texans play at noon which gives me an excuse to pour some of this REYKA into OJ.
Just landed In California to start 23 days of Christmas vacation. Had my first dispensary visit since Amsterdam 2002. What a great experience and the staff were amazing helping to choose what to get based on my needs. I got a variety of stuff and now just waiting for a gummy to kick in....I’m so Glad some of the US is realising the lunacy of having this stuff illegal.
I'm about to pull the trigger on my plane tickets to England for my vacation in May. Why am I nervous about this? Maybe because it'll be the farthest (furthest?) I've ever flown and it's over an ocean? I'm really excited for this solo adventure though!

It’s a peaceful day in the Beachin household... my oldest niece (16) needed a distraction-free space & is in my dining room writing an essay for her finals, I’m relaxing with a hot cup of creamy peppermint bark coffee, the Christmas tree is lit, Christmas shows are on tv (streaming), the house is warm & cozy, there’s a gentle rain falling outside, & life is just generally good today.
Nothing more Southern than a rapper from Port Arthur having a conversation with a rapper from Acres Homes about prosperity preachers. Best quote so far: "you never hear about fire fighter brutality cases in the news"
My favorite part about Houston is it isn't anything special to run into guys like Bun B and Slim Thug while just out and about. For the most part, Houston rappers are just regular dudes who just happen to make sick money and good music. The lack of pretension in Houston is very unique among major cities.
I received quite possibly the best compliment of my life last night. I was talking to one of my favorite bartenders and his lovely wife about nothing of any consequence, and said "by the way Michelle, I know we don't really know each other, but you're always super sweet and you and your husband are a really great couple. I'm glad I met you guys." Without skipping a beat she goes "Seriously Freddy? Dude, you are my inspiration. I want to be you." I'm lucky to have a lot of great friends and acquaintances, and have received more than my fair share of great compliments in my life. This one took the cake though. I was legitimately shocked by it, it felt so good to hear.
I’ve been skeptical about the advancements in autonomous vehicles for a while now. Stanford students teaching a self driving DeLorean named MARTY to flawlessly drift through a complex course may have restored my faith.

I'm still a skeptic, because I feel like the car didn't so much drive the course itself as it did perform the precise movements that were programmed into it to fit the course, you know? The article doesn't actually dispute that. This quote did throw me for a loop, though.
"The DeLorean, named MARTY, uses custom software that allows the car to move forward while its wheels are pointed sideways."
That's just basically a definition of drifting, right? I find that quote otherwise very confusing.
Headed to a private party at my favorite neighborhood bars later this evening. A three bar party all on the same block complete with a casino:

About the best itinerary I've seen in a while. I'm wearing my Christmas card outfit.
I spent the day hopped up on Hydrocodone and CBD after waking up with my back out - *but* I also spent the day rewatching the 2018 Groundhog Day marathon, which is still one of my favorite things the guys have ever done. I love how they can still get me to laugh no matter what.
This isn't really 'making my day' - maybe we should bring back the Randomly Interesting Stuff (or whatever it's called) thread? - but it's still a bit amusing. Apparently Bikini Bottom is somewhere in Humboldt County, given the area code on the poster for the new movie.
Edit: I called it. It's a recording from Spongebob.

Hung out with a lemur yesterday. Her name is Mia, and her hands are as soft as Baby Yoda's wondering gaze.
