Guys! You MUST start coverage on HBO's Euphoria

Ok, so I have seen the first 3 episodes of Euphoria now, and I really have to say that I've never seen anything like it ever on TV.

The show is visually very well done, the story is creative, and the characters are all really compelling.  My taste in TV is very similar to most people here in the forum, and I am not kidding when I say this show is groundbreaking on several fronts and deserves your attention.

I am the father of 3 boys all pre-teen or teen, and I feel like this is the first show I've ever seen which might come close to giving me a really accurate portrayal of what high school could be like now if you focused on the gray areas - drugs, porn, peer pressure, sexual reality.  Again, as a father, this is all just both amazing and horrifying at the same time.

The ACTING.  Zendaya is a legit star - she is devastating in this show. Really heartbreaking.  She's surrounded by an excellent cast as well and I feel sure that some of these folks will be given awards for this.

Jim and A Ron, you guys would really benefit from covering this on it's own, but I'd throw out a challenge:  you need a female co-host AND (this is the hard part) a much younger person who can give you a bird's eye view of what's happening on the show.  Find a very young YouTuber or similar to cover it with you and you will strike gold.

Big fan. Thanks for considering. I MUST hear your thoughts on this show!

I heard there was like a million dicks in episode 1. Like Chernobyl times an order of magnitude.

As a high school teacher, I can tell you that Euphoria is definitely not an accurate portray of what high school is like today. Some of the scenarios it portrays are based in reality but then cranked up to 11. Real life is more like a 2 or 3, occasionally getting up to a 5 or 6.

Didn’t the guys mention this show and give it a pass? I tried watching and 1 episode was enough for me.

I'm definitely going to check out an episode or two over the long episode. I've seen enough interesting takes I gotta give it a try.

If by interesting takes, you mean erect penises, then you have to check it on that alone.

Aside from that, I think I might be in love with this show.

It is very good.  Zendaya was phenomenal in episode 3.  She had 2 very strong emotional scenes that both felt very heartbreaking.  Maybe J,A&C can do a podcast on 3 episodes at a time like they've done with other shows on the BMTV feed.  I'm just worried they already have their work cut out for them with Stranger Things 3 dropping in 2 days.

Fans:  Game of Thrones has too many naked women and not enough naked men.
    HBO: Hold my beer!

All I know about this show is there was some One Direction slash fiction going on and one of the 1Ders involved was very pissed off about it. I am 30 years too old to know this, but here we are.

  • Really really enjoying this show. Probably haven't been this excited for Sunday night since the leftovers came to an end.

So that's what that was? It was pretty hilarious.

See folks, this is what happens when you host a TV and movie podcast. Everything is an episode. Birth of your child? Episode. Wedding? Episode. Long weekend? Episode.

That's strange. I've only watched the first episode but everything in it seems pretty ordinary to me. I mean, it's been A WHILE since I was in high school but the sex, drugs, assault, statutory rape, divorce, and other parties seem pretty much in line with what it was like circa 2002-05 for me. Hell, people were drinking in class and smoking weed on the back of the bus.

Actually now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure that there was a student that used to steal cars when I was in middle school. Also I have a sister that just graduated high school that has hinted at similar stories Maybe it varies by location but yeah it seems like a pretty accurate portrayal.

That said, I don't know if I will continue to watch the show, despite that, and also the fact I enjoyed the first episode a lot. It seems questionable to me to sexualize teenagers, even if the actors themselves are adults, and even if they aren't intentionally sexualizing them, by proxy they are. I'll have to think on it some. It might be an important show to watch though. I dunno. Im conflicted.
