Trailers and Upcoming TV Thread

There is one of these threads for movies but I couldn't find one for TV. I didn't want to start an individual thread for this TV show so here is an upcoming TV thread.

Jack Ryan Season 2 is "Coming Soon" in this new trailer. It looks like a redo of Clear and Present Danger being in South America with the convoy ambush. Also it has already been renewed for Season 3.

  • First trailer for Briarpatch ... I'm sure this will get some Bald Move attention since it's created by Andy Greenwald (of Grantland/The Ringer fame) and produced by Sam Esmail. Looks pretty stylish, and the cast is very good.

  • The Witcher on Netflix looks like it could be quite the show.  I bought the Witcher 3 game with the intentions of playing through it but that's not going to happen.  Anyone that knows about the games/novels let me know what you think would be beneficial articles/synopses to read before the series starts.

I tried to play The Witcher 3, but it was just way too overwhelming. I know people love it though.

Is Jack Ryan pretty good?  I've been wanting to watch it but just haven't found the time.  Not sure I'll have time in the near future with as many good tv shows as there are right now but it's definitely on my list.  Thanks.

I liked the early Tom Clancy Jack Ryan books so the show is a must watch for me. I always liked the reluctant hero aspect of him. The first season was pretty good and this season was OK. There were a few eye rolling tropes and Jack was played a little more gungho than I would like. Probably could have shifted some explody money to the writers room.

    Play this over the trailer:

I legit want to get into it but I just don't have the time and it sounds like it's a game that has a very expansive story.

Why would they tell us? And I’m hoping his character is written better this time. He was too Whiney and fluffy last season.

I don't recall the exact moment in time this happened but all trailers now are just a condensed version of the movie or show.

    It is just so weird.

  • I'm beyond excited for this. The first season of this show is what put me from vaguely following F1 by googling the results a couple times a year to watching all the races as close to live as was reasonable. Now having a better understanding of the sport and having followed these events as they happened I can't wait to see all the behind the scenes stuff and how they all reacted to the big events last season.

Fair warning, this guy is little much, but he does put how difficult Formula 1 driving is in perspective.

  • @Freddy Yea I could not do a lap in one of those things, it's ridiculous. The exercises they do to train for it with people on either side pulling on their heads with rubber bands as they do situps and shit like that are wild. The video of Fernando Alonso cracking a walnut with his neck still weirds me out.

  • I got to do 8 laps in one at Chicago land speedway. It’s insane. You don’t realise how high the turns are but you almost feel perpendicular to the ground at the corners.

I wonder who has it tougher physically, F1 drivers or fighter pilots? The Gs are definitely worse in a fighter jet, but for the most part the actual controls themselves demand the same level of physical prowess as a video game.

It sounds like what I did was different than your typical F1 race which is more around a flat track. The F1 tracks seem to be all straight and the turns require brakes.

However what we did was more like nascar laps.

We had a “expert car” that we followed. The driver kept a certain distance from us and it was up to us to follow the driver. The slower you went the slower the lead driver went. The faster you went the faster the driver went...

the fastest time I recorded was 211 miles. It was pretty wicked. But I was burnt out and pretty beat up after just 8 laps. Can’t imagine being a professional and doing the circuit.

After some research I think we did Indy cars and not F1 cars. It was still awesome but not as crazy as F1

  • What about Fargo season 4? I've missed a couple LWJ&A eps so I don't know if it's been mentioned... Looks intriguing!
