Theory - White Rose's Machine

edited December 2019 in Mr. Robot
Greetings,

Not sure if you guys got my email. Here's some feedback discussion points for the podcast.

I have a few theories that I've been conjuring up naturally and would like to see what you both think. Love your podcast, I checked out all the Mr. Robot podcasts and yours in the best. I actually work in IT and Cyber Security and was pleasantly surprised your podcast dives deep into the hacks, even without advertising that it's tech analysis. Kudos! Maybe you guys can talk about these points during the feedback section at the end of the podcast.  The big twists might be psychological fiction, rather than science fiction. This plays both into White Rose's machine and the "3rd personality" reveal. I have two discussion points. Both seem baked in since the beginning and would be an amazing series re-watch.

1. White Rose's machine is tech that induces multiple personality disorder within select characters to bring back their dead loved ones.

We have to keep in mind that White Rose claims "she can hack time", thus having more personalities in one mind, so you can do 2-3 times as much with one physical body in a finite amount of time. Think of all the episodes we see where Elliot and Mr. R. are doing things at the same time (hacking time), collecting information twice as fast, being in two places at once. It's possible Elliot was the guinea pig of this experiment and Mr. Robot was induced into him as a second personality. We can see this double personality also in Zhang/White Rose, she might have a 3rd personality she is wanting to come out too, her dead lover from the 80s. I feel like this is her goal to have him in the form of a personality inside her. Also, it's her goal to bring back everyone's dead loved ones. This would change humanity forever. This makes sense how Angela was able to see her dead mom in real time, it was all in her head because of the machine. Maybe it works as some sort of frequency field, that can be shut off and on, and for specific people.

Cheers,
ENDERCRASH

I'm leaning towards speculative theories rather than spoilers.
But yes, I agree it's better not to reveal anything in the thread title.

Having said that.... according to the Forum rules, it's okay to put a personal theory in the thread title.

I had posted this before catching up on the show, so didn't really read the post in case it was spoiling something that had been revealed in an episode. But yea if just a theory no harm.

Although personally I do prefer discussion to stay in episode threads, instead of the forums becoming like a sub-reddit for the show with each random theory and whatnot getting their own thread.

    Me too!
  • Or a theories thread. I don't need the theory in the title.

  • Ok. I'll add this to the most recent episode thread then and delete this original thread.
