great cast! love when the fellas pull back the curtain and give the listeners an understanding on what's going on behind the scenes. things may not have worked out but you grew and learned alot from this whole experience. to that i salute you.

Man, that sucks it didn’t work out. Thanks for being candid bc I find ya’ll navigating the business interesting. I was happy for ya’ll when you talked about the opportunity over lunch long ago and could tell you both were excited, so sorry it didn’t work out.

While I didn’t partake in the R&M coverage, I personally find it hard to keep up with all your other coverage! His Dark, Watchmen, Legion, Stranger Things, Lunches, Reheated Lunches, the Fantasy Movie Spectacular, the Holiday special (which I’m still Working through) have me focusing on BM podcasts over all the others.

Also, I’m very happy with the new perspectives and additional coverage done by Cecily and Alexis. So a very happy customer here and getting a lot more than $5 a months worth. Very excited to see what BM 2020 has in store.

  • Wait, was Watchmen a problem, controversial podcast for Bald Move?  Hadn't picked up on that. Or are you saying it just wasn't as popular for Bald Move because baseline Watchmen fans weren't into it?

re: 2019 as an especially rough year... and a Watchmen series that tackles racism isn't seen as "shit" by half of that fanbase and all the hard work paid off and we're on cloud nine.

i just want to say as a midwestern kid born in the early 80s like the guys I connect with them And their life experiences. I’d rather spend an hour with J&A than anyone in Hollywood. I love being a club member and helping the guys do what they love. I wish I could do the same and I hope they know that because they work so hard and so such an amazing job they get to have a job they love. You both deserve the job you have and I thank you for the culture and community you built. It’s an amazing accomplishment that the Bald Move community is probably the least toxic and least controversial group online. While we don’t always agree we have mutual respect and understanding.

I love being apart of the club and I love everyone here. I’ve never met any of you but I feel like I know a lot of you and feel like you’re a friend of mine. Whether it’s running a fantasy sports league with @Chinaski , @cdrive @awookiee @Noel  @MrX or playing D&D together online with @cretenbull @CapeGabe @Doctor_Nick @flukes @Alkaid13. Or playing board games online with @JaimieT. Or relating to being Australian with @Dee. Or talking with @Michelle @gguenot @pavlovsbell @JoshuaHeter @ken hale about the best TV shows.

All of you feel like my friends and no offense to anyone I missed. I really tried to include everyone I’ve spent tome talking with over the past 4 years. I didn’t exclude anyone on purpose. You all are important to me and I love being a part of this community and family.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You have to realize that everytime we espouse or endorse a controversial opinion like "hey, on average black people have it kind of rough in America" we lose audience and support. Not as much nowadays as back in the battleground years of the early Trump presidency, but we still get a lot of "I've sat and put up with your liberal bullshit for quite a while now, but enough is enough". And of course with every new show there is an opportunity to gain new audience and when half of the likely ears don't even watch the show because of its messaging that otherwise would... Not complaining, btw, just explaining. I've seen communities that have tried to stay neutral in this, and I've seen communities embrace reactionaries, and I'll take this community every fucking day, and I'll take the Watchmen we got over a hypothetical lukewarm "Zack Snyder: The Next Generation" project with the same zeal.

  • @A_Ron_Hubbard - Interesting.  Watchmen was supposedly a pretty decent hit for HBO, do you think a lot of the casual fans / podcast listeners might have stopped at the official podcast?  Is there any indication that that sort of thing happens for say Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul with their official insider podcasts?
  • Just for perspective despite all the gut punches like GoT and the learning experiences like Starburns we did have a good stuff in 2019 like True Detective, Deuce, Legion, Stranger Things, Mr. Robot, Chernobyl, Groundhog’s Day Marathon, etc.

BM TV has been more consistent and has been great. Same with Bald Movies: sure you have Star Wars, but you also have Captain Marvel, End Game, Joker, etc.

How about that Cecily and Alexis His Dark Materials cast? That was awesome.

I’m not trying to engage in gratuitous dick-sucking, but there was a lot of good stuff to go along with the stuff that didn’t go right. I’m sure some of the great shows weren’t as rewarding as far as audience and membership gains as a fantastic GoT finish could have been, but the club abides so you have runway to take some risks and endure some setbacks.

How many hours of material did BM produce in 2019? 200? 250? It can’t all be Breaking Bad or GoT season 3.

I was never into Rick & Morty, so even though I  Bald Move, I never listened to the podcast.  That aside, screw the people who were responsible for the demise of this incredible opportunity that is now dead in the water.  They don't know what they lost when they gave up the partnership with Bald Move - and they *did* lose a lot.  On to bigger and better things.
