1/2 way through the episode, this seemed like a solid possibility, but by the episode's end (because of the bowling ball stunt), I'm less convinced.
Arguably, Jimmy turning down Howard's offer in Better Call Saul is parallel to Walt turning down Gretchen and Elliott's offer in Breaking Bad. Walt's offer came much earlier in Breaking Bad, but it came only 5 episodes into Walt starting his career as a criminal. Howard's offer to Jimmy came 5 episodes into him taking on the persona of Saul Goodman (if you count Saul's origin as the finale of last season).
Also, we know that Gretchen and Elliott factored heavily into Walt's plan to settle all family business at the end of Breaking Bad. And, we know that Jimmy / Saul has plans to settle business as he flees New Mexico for Nebraska (he tells Francesca to expect a Nov. 12 phone call). Perhaps that is Saul using Howard in similar way that Walt used Gretchen and Elliott.
There isn't much to confirm or deny any of this, but it felt like it was worth noting.
... do we have any theories as to why Jimmy does this? Howard seemed to be genuinely complimenting Jimmy. What drove Jimmy / Saul to wreck Howard's car? What's Jimmy's end game?

Think Jimmy just doesn't like Howard and has no desire to work in HHM. It does seem like Howard is probably a nice enough guy and that Chuck was the real villain, but I guess Jimmy just can't forgive Howard for playing his role. So, his attitude towards Howard is "f him".
The Chuck feelings run deep. As muted as Jimmy’s affect was last season, he really has no one else is take a swing at except Hamlin. While still feeling guilt, grief, and all kinds of complicated feelings regarding Chuck. I imagine that seeing Howard genuinely doing better and moving on (after last seeing him a wreck last season) has to irk Jimmy in some deep-seated way. The “namast3” license plate and episode title speaks to that. This absolutely puts to rest the idea that Jimmy just doesn’t care about Chuck’s death. He does, it is just so buried, that when things remind him of Chuck, he can’t help but lash out.
I’d have to double check, but this might be the first time we’ve seen him do a completely malicious act with no fiscal or other reward. That’s really upsetting
I do like how close they are linking the episodes together. Before it seemed like it a bit more ambiguous. Namiste picks up directly the next morning. But that also connects to 50%, things are just getting clicking. These seains always start like this and I get worried. But they pick up around this part.
I really hated Jimmy doing that to Howard. Turn him down. Tell him to go pound sand. Just being a petty asshole like that feels bad, man.
Theories on where Mike woke up? I figure either one of Gus' people found him or what I'm actually thinking is one of Lalo's people found him.
Couldn't agree more about how Jimmy handled everything with Howard. Be real with him and tell him how you feel instead of damaging his property as a F you to him. The way Jimmy looked at Howard's car when they had both cars pulled up you could just see Jimmy's mind turning. I should add, I have a special hatred towards people that do damage to someones car.
Also hated that Kim went to Jimmy to basically pull one over on the Mesa Verde big wigs. Not sure how she plans on this playing out but to put up a pretty big show of how you feel in the meeting and then all of a sudden your significant other is representing the 1 guy that's standing in the way... Definitely doesn't look good.

Yeah, not sure how she plans to pull this off. Maybe Mesa Verde doesn't know right away who Jimmy or Saul is, but it wouldn't take much to find out his relationship/connection to Kim and even if Kim tried to play the "I didn't know card", it just takes 1 skeptical person to think about how Kim was making the case for leaving this 1 property alone and then all of a sudden, her boyfriend or friend is now representing this guy,

Yeah, that’s the part I’m most curious about. It’s not like their relationship is a secret. Mesa Verde is going to know. Unless she’s just not caring at this point and is hitting the self-destruct button. But I kind of find that less interesting than Jimmy playing a more active role in things. It’s ultimately more satisfying if Jimmy oversteps causing something with Kim, than Kim seeking Jimmy out for a half-baked plan to get the homeowner out of a jam.
