I really, REALLY wish he was coming back to play Rex. 

“Boba Fett is expected to play just a small role in season two of the series, after the character was teased in the season one episode "The Gunslinger," when a mysterious figure sporting the bounty hunter's trademark spurs approached the apparently lifeless body of Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen).”

Is Rex even alive in The Mandalorian time? Dude was pretty old in Rebels. Hype to watch Boba Fett get jobbed on hard by Pedro Pascal, yet again proving that he was always over hyped.

The Mandalorian takes place an indeterminate “few” years after Return of the Jedi, and Rex fought in the Battle of Endor, so he could definitely still be alive. Probably beyond his fighting days at that point though for sure.
