  • That ending was pretty surprising, but I'm most surprised that it gave this fan of The Wire the closure he really needed: William Rawls having his head exploded. Thank you to all the producers and writers of The Boys for giving that man what he truly deserves. That bolloxing couldn't have been given to a worse cunt(I normally hate that word, but it goes with the spirit of the show). #JusticeforMajorCrimes

  • Maybe dropping the famous Omar line isn't a coincidence after all.

  • So, after at least incapacitating black noir queen maeve is still around at the hearing ?
Does that imply black noir is dead ? I am pretty sure he realized who attacked him.

Which line? I missed it and I loved Omar.
  • Blow The Bloody Doors off Meaning... In the UK (where Butcher is supposed to be from) this expression is commonly used now. It derives from Michael Caines character in 'The Italian Job'. As he observes the smouldering wreckage of a security van (they were trying to break into, using dynamite) he shouts 'You were just supposed to blow the bloody doors off!'... now this expression is used whenever an action has far greater (even catastrophic) repercussions than was intended... which just about sums up The Boys!

Thank you! That makes a lot of sense. It's wild that meaning hasn't made it across the pond yet. Maybe The Boys will finally import it.
A bit late to the party...but also from the subtitles, Butcher said "dekko" not "gecko". "Dekko" is British slang (deriving from Hindi) for "look", as in "Let's have a dekko" for "Let's have a look". Used to be more common in the past, but you'll still hear it occasionally.

  • This is the obvious hidden villain of season2.

  • I feel so bad for Becca but I gotta wonder about  her parenting game plan. Ryan was always going to grow up and realize he was being lied to. The longer it took the more betrayed he would  probably feel. And he does have powers. And they make him potentially dangerous. It doesn’t seem like the best plan to me to act like he doesn’t.

And once homelander came on the scene I think she should have started coming clean to the kid.  It would be a tough conversation but she could have presented it rationally and he could see her side of it at least. Now he will learn everything from SF and HL.

It is hard to know what all has been her decisions and what vought has been telling her to do though in raising Ryan. She is in an impossible spot in a lot of ways.

Victoria references the "king" quote when they're discussing how to go after Vought.
  • Late here but Frenchie's name is "Serge" (subtitles, guys, subtitles) and the "headless" member of the 7 in the statue is Translucent. He's been there since Season 1, Ep. 1, they've just never replaced him.

Anyone else wondering how this will get wrapped up in one remaining episode?

Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, so I expect one will as well?

Well, we can't ask Vogelbaum anymore but getting a head start is always a good idea. :-)

My theory is that Cindy is Kurgans daughter, which would explain her head obsession, Stormfront is much older than she said and that the immortals are the source of compound v. They are still negotiating about the prize though.

  • I had to laugh when Deep feels his own head after seeing all of the head explosions on TV.

I also like imagining Maeve seeing that it's Black Noir going after Starlight then heading to the vending machine to get the Almond Joy. I'm sure she would just break the glass go get the candy, but actually buying a bar while the other two are fighting in the other room would be a funny deleted scene.

This is clearly not Cindy, right? Seems all of these people died the same way Rayner did in the season premiere when Cindy was still presumably locked up in the hospital. She didn't seem controllable in any way, let alone to be let out to assassinate Rayner. Unless her powers work through video, which might be why she was staring down the camera in her cell, like she was trying to make it work in reverse.

  • Was super excited to see John Noble show up as Butcher's dad!
  • I'm wondering if it's the church/cult which has the super who can pop heads, though I guess the more likely organization would be Vought.  Both find value in supers and want to use them for their own ends.

I don't think it's scientology redux that has the head popping super, since they would likely use them on the ex-members who try and turn against them rather than just doing smear campaigns.

I like the idea but wouldn't that bring the police to their door, assuming we're talking about the Eagle speaks out -> the Eagle's head pops scenario?

    I don't get Victoria's angle.

And Stormfront is bulletproof, but not knife proof? Could be her skin, but not eyes I guess. But Kimiko bloodied her mouth/face with punches.
  • How did the congresswoman know to blow up Raynor in episode 1?  Is she working with Edgar secretly?

I generally liked the season a lot but they do seem kind of hand-wavy over the details.

Yeah this is the first time in this show it felt like a twist for twist's sake. Just power for power's sake I guess? She's gonna run for president? But then yeah how did she know Raynor needed to die? And where was she? It looked like she needed line of sight. And if she wanted to weaken but not take down vaught, why kill the hearings?

  • The girl power scene was quite cathartic.  Loved that.

The final Homelander scene was actually cut from season 1.  Amazon requested they remove it. Guess times have changed!

I don't love that the AOC analog turns out to be running a false flag op.  Maybe if they hadn't made her so much of an AOC, I wouldn't mind so much. It just feels kind of icky though.

  • Pretty weak finale, all super easy barely an inconvenience. Stormfront knows first hand that Brian's powers awake if someone threatens his mom which will also alienate him from her. Also she could make herself the victim of a facist regime who wants to never let something like that happen again or something, they are not even trying to play that obvious angle. The deep fake argument is bullshit since they mention on the news she is on public record to be Vaughts wife. It felt really forced, the church guy as well, they must have been worried about the head popping threat when they were not responsible for it.
  • Basically my reaction to the finale

One other minor nit to pick with the congresswoman: they very specifically show her eyes glazed over when she pops the church guy's head, yet we saw her numerous times in the hearing scene as heads are popping and her eyes are normal.  They even have a few heads pop after she's been escorted out by the colonel so also violating the line of sight requirement they were maybe hinting at too.

Minor issue in an otherwise fun season finale.
  • Maybe Neuman isn't the only head-popper? I guess we'll see next season.

True.  But that could be a little too farcical if there's a bunch of head-poppers running around.

I don't know if anything could be too farcical for The Boys, but I take your point.

Until I saw the shot of her on the street looking at the house, I would have sworn the Church of the Collective was in the Knives Out house.
