Dude come play Tabletop with us. All you need is a laptop from the 2010s and it should work. It’s not highly intensive gaming.
  • In rotation:

    Rime (PS4)
    Final Fantasy XV (PS4)
    Ni no Kuni (PS3)

    On hold:
SMT: Nocturne (PS2) (Been on hold for about 1.5 years until I can find a proper CRT to play it on)

    Does my desktop work?

And I'm not sure what this is.  Is it just playing Monolopy on PS4?

    Yes, quoting myself.

I just realized I asked if it was on PS4... but then why would I need a computer.

If you meant the D&D thread, I've never really played it (never the actual game, with cards and a table and stuff), and never been any good at those type of games.
  • Yes it works on the desktop. It’s for playing a ton of board games. As many as you can think of. From the standards like monopoly, risk, clue to the newest ones
  • Finally getting into Divinity 2. The combat in this series is so good. The story is hot garbage, but when exploration and combat are this good, who cares?

  • Been stuck in the house so just playing all sorts of games. Next one is Out of Park Basebal 2021.

its definitely scratching my itch for baseball. It’s probably the best baseball game since MVP2005

you basically run the entire Organization and it’s completely authentic down to the single A Rosters. You can also play any season with the real rosters from any year back to like 1970.

right now I’m playing two franchises/careers. The 1984 Cubs and the 2003 cubs. You don’t bat or pitch you just run the team. But it’s a blast.

  • I was already working from home before COVID-19 hit (I'm an attorney who takes appointed appeals from the state), so my life hasn't changed that much except my wife is now also working from home.

I am extremely grateful that I get to keep working and earning income when so many others can't. However, I can't lie - there's a tiny part of me that wishes I couldn't work so I'd have an excuse to play games all day. And yes, I'm well aware this makes me a garbage person.

I know what you mean. I work in a warehouse that carries spices and ingredients for a big company that makes hot dogs and sausages. And technically some of the giant paper rolls we carry are food grade too but the in and out of those has dropped significantly the past couple of weeks. Those two things make it "essential" for us to be here. I do not want to be here, with my fellow coworkers or the occasional truck driver who I have to interact with to do paperwork. I also realize how lucky I am to be able to work and make money right now so I shouldn't complain. It's a weird catch-22.

I'd rather just stay home and occasionally burn vacation days and play video games all day to help do my part.

  • I finished Uncharted 2.  Definitely appreciated the recommendations here...that game was as spectacular as advertised.  Improves on the first in every respect, and a couple of those platforming-puzzles were really memorable, like the giant hindu statue and the Himalayan level.  I wasn't feeling the story at first until they brought back the characters from the first game, and there's a couple beats towards the end that I didn't like, but overall that game is just about perfect.

Speaking of perfect, I also finally finished Shadow of Mordor, and man that game blew me away.  As far as-beat-em-ups go, that game might well be perfect, too.  I'd played before but really struggled with the combat and didn't progress too far into the story, but this time I really mastered it and damn do I love that game.  The story was ok, turned out to be better than I gave it credit for in the early stages, but the "nemesis" system might just be my favorite gaming innovation in recent memory.   The depth that it adds to the already-godlike combat is just mind-blowing, and really makes for an engaging grind, with rivalries and recruitment and building your own orc army.  The way that all plays into the finale of the game was so satisfying.

Hahaha! Exactly. My first run through I was a Nord who just liked to smash things. Your classic tank character. My second character was when I discovered the joys of being a stealthy archer. This is probably the sixth character I've started in this game. The fourth time I've thought, okay, THIS TIME I'm going to be a heavy magic user. The second time that I've gotten to the character creation screen...

Stealth archer is easily the funnest exterior character to play. I don't know if I've ever done a play through where my character was anything other than a master deer hunter on the side. Maybe my "Big Dumb Orc Smash Things with Hammer" play through. Even then, I'm sure I bagged a few deer when I wasn't busy drinking mead and braining bandits. Aaaaaand... I'm about to start playing Skyrim gain.

Stealth and bows are two of the things I've never touched in any of these games and I just always assumed everyone was either all swords or magic. Can you actually sneak up on people? I thought you'd end up sniping one or two enemies and then have to fight everyone else with a fork or whatever bullshit weapon rogue type characters use.

Stealth is for the weak. My bow strategy is to draw it back, walk right up to the biggest SoB in the tank, let loose one good shot to the dome, put the bow away, and then finish the job with my fists. All on Skooma.

  • I got into Skyrim for a while and then didn't have the time to keep up with it. I did enjoy it and would love to get back into it but I've got a 9 week old puppy that's devouring all free time that I have.

I've always been a Halo fan and still hop on on occasion to play some multiplayer but it's the story that got me hooked.

Finished Uncharted 3.  Definitely inferior to the second in pretty much every way, especially the emphasis on melee combat.  In the middle of a furious gunfight, some dude will run right up to your muzzle and engage you in some tedious quick-time combat?  Good grief, what were they thinking?  Although the platforming/puzzles weren't quite as seamlessly integrated with the rest of the gameplay, there were some very memorable sequences, like the ship graveyard and the cargo plane.  I definitely enjoyed this series.  Incredible that the fourth game is free this month, so I'll be able to finish the series pretty soon.

After that I got back into Marvel's Spiderman, another game I never finished.  What can you say about this game?  Amazing! Sensational! Spectacular!  As usual, I've been bogged down hunting sidequests and stupid collectibles, but I'm at a point now where if I finish the story I'll have 100%, so it was totally worth it.  Put that on my tombstone: life well-spent.  The story is almost very cool, too, but there's some huge plotholes that kind of ruin it for me.  I think I'm going to finish all the DLC on this one, it's just so much fun.  Edited to add: and the costumes! Holy crap I've never had so much fun trying on different outfits.

On the Uncharted front, there is also Lost Legacy which I have heard is some people's favorite of the bunch. I haven't finished it yet, but I look forward to getting around to it.

ItIt's weird, I generally prefer sandbox games, like I said I tend to just get lost exploring the map.  But I really appreciated the linear nature of these Uncharted games, how there's literally no room for exploring or sidequests.  It felt like a throwback, in a way, a game you could blow throw in like ten hours or less.

That said, I've got so many other games on the backlog it's going to be hard even going back for the fourth Nathan Drake installment, lol, so that spinoff may not be on immediate radar.  I've still got The Last of Us to get to eventually, and all that talk about Skyrim is making me think maybe I should finally play that, lol.

I believe Lost Legacy is a bit less linear. But not quite sandbox'y. At least that is the way I understood it.

Animal Crossing still has me in its grasp I can't believe it's been just shy of a month since this came out.  This coincided with stay-at-home order and the start of all-staff work from home at my job.  It's been really fantastic, my favorite one in the series since GameCube and it's legitimately relaxing to vanish to my island an hour or 2 every day.

BUT WHY CAN'T I GET MORE TABLES?! I have so many knick knacks and nothing to place them on.

With the weather in Ohio really preventing me from going outside as much as I'd like it seems I've been hooked on games that have you "in nature."  I reinstalled Fallout 76.  It showed up in my Steam library on the release of the Wastelanders update which adds, you know, things people expect in a Fallout game - actual human NPCs and voice acting.

The world of Appalachia is beautiful for a wasteland.  It's surprisingly lush and colorful as the world has had more time to recover from the nuclear fallout.  So far it seems like what was missing in the initial release of 76 so I'll likely get sucked in to the explore and loot loop that I fall in to with the series.  Also, it runs much better this time around and I don't remember upgrading my PC since the last time I played.

  • Metro Exodus - Finished! Not as good as 2033, but better than Last Light and still fantastic. No other FPS I've played comes close to the atmosphere these games create. Spec Ops: The Line is still the best story-driven FPS ever, though.

Rime - Finished! Fun, diverting puzzler, glad I got it free with game pass as I never would have bought it. Was not expecting the plot swerve at the end. Very pretty game.

Hollow Knight - I was into this deep a year ago and got distracted. Getting back into it. It's controls are so buttery smooth.

Divinity 2 - 40 hours in and still in Act 2. This is why I wanted to finish Rime and Metro cause I knew this game was gonna get its hooks in me deep.

World of Warships - Still some of the most satisfying gameplay burdened with the shittiest UI and freemium bullshit.

The lack of surfaces is so confusing. We only have two table recipes and nothing that's like a counter or a shelf. They really want you to build your whole kitchen out of bug tanks or cardboard boxes.
