Got Slay the Spire (a rougelike deck builder) for Switch recently so been swapping between that and FF7 Remake. Windbound looks great, giving me Breath of the Wild vibes with a Windwaker skin.
Slay the Spire is so good. It made a 5 hour flight last year feel like it was 45 minutes.
I've been playing a lot of Ring Fit Adventure for home workouts. I recommend it to anyone with a Switch, especially if you're trapped in a little apartment like I am. I really can't wait to move into a drastically larger apartment in May.
I bumped it up to max difficulty today and during my lunch break workout I got my ass kicked with wide squats. I had to do 40 or so AND THEN hold a wide squat against Allegra for what felt like an eternity. I really thought I was going to collapse before it was over but damn I'm sore and feel great.
Also I haven’t played COD in about 5 years but I’m definitely picking up MW2 cuz I love the single campaign with defending America from Russian invasion. Best campaign in the series.
Yeah, thanks, it does. I watched an LP of Rime but didn't finish it. I don't like having such little storyline. Maybe I would feel differently if I were playing...

The story all comes together at the end, but it is very back-end loaded. It did surprise me, which is more than most game storylines do.
XCOM Chimera Squad came out on Friday and it's pretty good for 10 bucks. It's got a much more lighthearted comic book feel than mainline XCOM games and the mechanics of it are way different but it works for the smaller scope its shooting for. They put a ton of work into the character bios and interactions and there is way more voice acting than I was expecting for a budget game. I'm assuming this will end up on the Switch at some point soon and I'll probably do another run
Yeah! Old World, a Civ like game built by designer of Civ III & Civ IV is coming out in early access next week. It looks like Civilization had a baby with EU4 & CK2. It doesn't progress like Civ, it stays in ancient times.
Just ordered a Ring Fit Adventure so looking forward to that kicking my unfit ass.
You managed to find that thing? I've heard they are super difficult to find with everyone stuck at home and attempting to stay active. I have heard amazing things about it from multiple sources.

I had a stockinformer.co.uk email alert set up for them. Happened to be on my comp when it came in so I grabbed it straight away!
I own one (RingFit) and I've been thinking about reselling. I pre-ordered it for October and used the hell out of it and I think I'm just over it now.
Well if you decide to do that and are interested in selling to yours truly, let me know. But, in all fairness, you'd probably make a killing with it on eBay. So as a fellow Bald Mover, I'd say that is probably the better move.
Listened to lunch. the FF7 remake is worth $60 by itself. The average person has to put in 40 hours and that’s not even going around and doing all the extra stuff. It’s a full game and it’s awesome and gorgeous. It’s worth $60
Are there Assassin's Creed fans here? I've been a fan of the series since the beginning. I certainly got the fatigue around Unity (one of the few I never played) and Syndicate (although I think it was fun, it definitely suffered from having way way too many famous names from history in it) Loved when they took a year or two off and came back with the very strong Origins and actually loved Odyssey even more.
This though, I don't know. I enjoy Viking things but I wonder how much this will end up feeling like an Assassin's Creed game. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long for some gameplay footage.
I don't know if I qualify as a fan but I loved Origins and I'll probably check out Vikings. Just please for the love of god stop the mandatory boat combat sections. As far as it feeling like an AC game, it looks like you're still going to have a stabby thing and be stealth killing a bunch of European soldier looking guys so I can't imagine it will be too different. It's an odd choice to put out what looks more like a God of War trailer as the first look though.
I have sunk the last few months into Horizon : Zero Dawn. Man, it is a gorgeous game, but the combat really does not fit with what I enjoy in a game. It took me forever to realize that stealth was important and I just couldn't get into that, especially with so many machines littering the world and next to nothing to actually use for stealth. Add in that it seems like they really intend you to methodically plan each attack or conflict you plan to get into.
I started out on "Hard" difficulty before dropping it down to "Normal." Even after that I had missions that were well below my level that I just felt were completely over my head. I dropped it down to the very easiest difficulty (I never do that, but I was just beating my head against the wall so often that it was not pleasurable to play). Ever since I have been enjoying things so much more. I am tearing around the country slaughtering machines with ease, this is much more my speed.
Also, for those of us pumped about The Last of Us 2, beware there are spoilers out there. I whole-heartedly believe that is why they changed their "indefinite" release date (due to COVID) to now releasing it next month once the spoilers started peaking out. So, tread carefully, folks.
I've gotten back in to Minecraft recently. There have been a ton of updates if you haven't played in a while and it's nice to just chill a while and build something.
I love Horizon Zero Dawn! It's unfortunately one of the greatest shames in my gaming backlog right now. I had gotten to what has to be one of the last boss battles in the game but unfortunately I wasn't really prepared for it and I saved it mid fight so now I am stuck in the middle of this huge battle that feels unwinnable. I hate that feeling.
Amazing game though. It's been a long time since I played and I never got the DLC, which I heard is solid, so I may just start a whole new game at some point.
Also, stealth was my jam in that game. To the point where I was kind of cheeseing the system. When you can just hide in a bush and one by one whistle each dinobot over and either kill or take over, it gets kind of cheap. But man, I had some EPIC battles with the big boys. For the longest time I saved a 12 minute battle with a Stormbird (I think that's the biggest one) that was harrowing. Loved it!

Oh damn, see, there are all these things that never even crossed my mind. Like the whistling. I doubt I have even done that once in my playthrough. That sounds really fun. It is an epically long game (including the sidequests and such), so I doubt my patience would hold in long enough for me to continually do it. I wish I could see some of those big boy fights.
But it is also funny that you mention a late-game boss fight. My friend stopped playing the game exactly for the reason you did. She was on a very late-game boss fight, saved mid-fight, and then didn't have the resources to seal the deal. Also, she happened to save seconds before being attacked and obliterated, so she had no fighting chance whatsoever.
Resurrected the PS2 from the dusty cobweb corner of the garage it’s been living in for many years. Still works! Popped in LOTR Two Towers and blew my little lady’s mind! Man those PS2 controllers have some thick long cables!
A YouTuber I follow came through with a 4 hour long video on the first Witcher game with even longer videos covering 2 and 3 soon to come.
This didn’t push me to play the first 2 games which I bounced off of years ago, but what it did do was push me into a Witcher lore hole. Playing the Witcher 3, watching the show, and reading the books all at the same time.
I’m finally correcting my mistake of not playing the Witcher 3 DLCs and holy hell I think they’re much better than the main game which is already masterpiece. I’m a few hours into Blood and Wine now working on contracts and upgrading my Feline armor to grandmaster once I get the funds.
I’m really going to stretch out this final DLC because I don’t want to end. It’s wonderful to escape to Touissant with its bright colors, beautiful architecture, and lovely music.
Picked up Jurassic World: Evolution over the weekend. My favorite part so far is that they got Jeff Goldblum to voice Dr. Ian Malcom, but didn't get Chris Pratt to voice whoever the hell Chris Pratt plays.

Anyone have a similar experience with H:ZD?

That guy is definitely not playing. Flies right in the face of the thread title.
