  • I've been having a bunch of fun with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. I've been flying around looking at all my old houses, lol. I don't have any experience with flight sims but it's manageable with all the assists on. My computer can only run it on medium graphics but it still looks great. I play using my PS4 controller plugged into my PC, but you still have to use mouse and keyboard to navigate some of the instruments.

It's included in Xbox Game Pass for PC (currently offering a promo of $1 for the first month). It's definitely worth looking into!

I've been playing lots and lots of Fall Guys lately, the internet's latest sweetheart for streamers. It manages to walk that tightrope of being extremely fun and extremely frustrating at the same time.

  • No Mans Sky is free on gamepass. With all the updates and free game with no crazy expectations it’s actually pretty good fun. Especially in quarantine where you’re just burning time

I’m wondering if I should invest in a flight controller set for this. Anyone have some recommendations for something that won’t break the bank but still is better than normal controller or mouse/keyboard?

I tried looking around for one online, but corona definitely spiked the demand for flight sticks. Prices are inflated like crazy.
  • I downloaded flight sim but haven't played it yet. Did they really make it so you can't play it with just a controller? It's also available for Xbox so it seems wild to me that there wouldn't be a setting that simplified controls to work without using your keyboard.
  • Got a shot of Baldmove HQ! I accidentally crashed into it afterwards :P

Well I'm using a PS4 controller which I had to use 3rd party software to be compatible with Windows, so the functionality is a bit janky. I can get into the air and fly using just the controller, but I have to use a mouse and keyboard for some of the higher-level functionality (menus, weather, ATC, etc).

An xbox controller might be a better experience. However, the xbox one port of MS flight Sim 2020 isn't out yet.
  • Apparently they're taking RDR2 off game pass on September 7. Guess I have to push through and try to finish it.
  • Finished Nier Automata. Although somewhat outdated I liked it, some of the songs really stuck in my head.
    Last Guardian is next.

That seems fast. Do the games just disappear from your library when they're removed from the service?

I found a good deal locally for a Thrustmaster T16000M FCS with the stick and throttle.

This one is ambidextrous too which is much needed for my southpaw ass. Also seemed to pay retail which was good.

It's a pretty common stick. It's in between the low-end SnuSnu 6900 and the high-end Pelvic Jammer QT420X.

I assume not since it's installed on the drive. My guess is you're just prompted to buy it when you try and open it.

In related news, my horse got hit by a train while I was playing tonight. I was interrogating a guy, and the horse wandered onto the tracks. I assumed he would move. Nope.

Yea. It’s a pretty we known stick. The MS store actually has it as one of the recommended Controllers. The one I got is listed for $159 on the MS store and that’s about what I paid when doing currency conversation for my country.

I didn't get it it until you pointed it out. Corona has fried my brain.

Hahaha! Wow! Like an airplane, those flew right over my head. Well played!

I was about to say I bought a Thrustmaster Hotas 4 for my PS4 about a year ago for Elite Dangerous. I love it! But Thrustmaster isn't really much better than those other names.

Man, I finally got to start The Last of Us 2. Obviously I won't say anything as I myself have made it pretty damn spoiler free. I will say I am maybe a couple of hours in and got past the first big event. Hoo boy. I won't say anything else and I guess I will check in with the spoiler thread once I am done. Which apparently will be a long time from now as I have heard it's pretty long.

So, not to hijack but since the last few BM Fall Guys streams, I have to confess- I’ve had the Fall Guy intro song stuck in my head for days! That show was one of my jams!  https://youtu.be/BmIsMzyohqM

What's the bottleneck? My old PC that I built a decade ago and have upgraded piecemeal over the years still runs it (to be fair I think the oldest part in it now besides fans, PSU, etc is the 2 year old video card, but it was mid-range when I got it).

It just says “your system doesn’t have the required hardware” and then when I play it, it’s just slow as hell and almost completely unresponsive

Fall Guys.  And some rando pushed me off of a picture match platform. Like it was just me and them, and they pushed me off. This means war!

Have you updated drivers for everything? A 3-year-old PC should not be getting that error message if it was midrange or above at that time. Here's the system requirements - https://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-pc-requirements - what are you behind on there? Does in install and then not run? Or will it not even install?

Isn't that the only way anyone dies in picture match?
