I tell you what I am NOT playing right now is Tony Hawk 1 + 2. I am trying to be better about buying so many games but this game looks soooooo good!
Yeah, I am really doing my best not to just buy that thing. I have HUGE digital stack of games for me to finish between Switch, PS4, PSVR and Steam...I have no business buying more. Especially with Super Mario All-Stars 3D on its way to the Switch...I will never get caught up. Maybe by PS6 I will have finally finished this generation's backlog.

  • Got Flight Sim working with the joystick/throttle in 4K. Wow. Impressive. It’s sad it got review bombed from the download issues cuz it’s gorgeous. I was actually able to fly from Chicago to my hometown just using the map and reference points on land.

Playing the DLC for Outer Worlds. They released one of two the other day. Peril on Gorgon doesn’t add to much but extends the game a bit. I’m most likely gonna get the Tony Hawk remaster next week when I get paid.
  • Hey some of us are trying to get a game of Among Us going. Anyone interested?

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2! Holy shit this is everything!  Me and my best bud played this game like a religion sharing a 20x20 efficiency West Campus UT. He worked the gas station; I worked the hardware store. Every moment of free time it seemed was playing this game on a 13” TV. Amazing on a ‘not 13” TV’ and in HD.

This plays in my head any time I even hear the name Tony Hawk:

Yup, I am on that Tony Hawk train as well. Man, I remember being a lot better at these games. But it doesn't matter because they got the feel of it right. I get frustrated here and there, but I am still trying to channel a series that I haven't played in ages. (Tony Hawk HD doesn't count) The amount of hours I spent on this franchise has to rival about any other out there. I'd 100% each level with each pro-skater, and then of course the bonus skater of the game as well.

Just bought Hades for the Switch. You are the son of Hades trying to escape to Mt. Olympus. Art style is unique, dialogue is funny and quirky, and the gameplay is repetitive but with enough new add ons as you go to not get boring and keep it somewhat fresh. You acquire upgrades as you go along. Definitely recommend. Easily a purchase for only 20$

  • I'm playing Mario 64 for the first time and boy does this feel like a game from 1996. I really wish they could have at least changed the camera. I'm sure this is a lot more fun if you remember yourself playing it when you're 10

I’m watching my partner play Mario 64 (they beat it when they were a kid) I never had an N64 so this is a magical experience for me. The camera is still awful and I feel they could’ve added more improvements to graphics and controls.
I’m making my way through Sunshine and it’s giving me all the good fuzzy nostalgia feelings.  Plays great too in my opinion, lightyears beyond 64.

    Hades
I bought this in Early Access and it released into 1.0 out of nowhere this week.  I am so glad because I’m dying for Spelunky 2 to come out on PC so this should hold me over in the meantime.

It’s a fantastic roguelike and to its credit, the first of the genre in a while that I’ve played without watching or listening to something in the background. The voice acting and music is fantastic.

Also I know they’re literal gods, but the characters are so hot and I’m getting crushes on some of the men too.  Like Dionysus for example. THEM LEGS THOUGH.  This game is actually expanding my sexuality.  :D

The art is so well done and the characters are fleshed out more deeply than you would think for this genre. My favorite Supergiant game by far.

Yeesh, bad timing with JK Rowling digging her own hole deeper this week.

WB Games said she is not directly involved but did not comment on whether or not she’ll receive royalties... https://www.digitalspy.com/tech/a34059865/harry-potter-jk-rowling-hogwarts-legacy-game/

Thoughts on Microsoft buying Bethesda ?

I have gone back and fourth on Xbox Play Station purchases. I was thinking is this the year to go back to Sony? After today, definitely no.

I may eventually get both in a couple of years whenever Elder Scrolls 6 rolls around. This at least saves me from buying Skyrim for PS5! Ha! So far, Microsoft Flight Simulator is the only thing that would get me to buy an Xbox over a PS5. Sony has a lot more for me.

Some people are holding out hope that it will be like the Mojang deal and they will still release some of the bigger games on everything. I don't know about that. They do need to make up that 7.5 billion though...

  • Microsoft generally has a strategy of "we don't care where you play the games, just buy our games" so I could see a lot of the Bethesda games still coming to PS5, especially if they control the market share the way they did this generation. Minecraft being on everything and their recent deals with Nintendo give me some hope this wont lock these games down. Anything is possible though, it's a huge bummer that all of entertainment is being consolidated into like three companies. They're also going to honor the PS exclusivity of a couple of the games that are already planned.

  • Saw this from Jeff Gerstmann which seems like a solid take on it:

Also I’d probably wait and see what Microsoft’s plans for the Bethesda IP end up looking like. Ori comes out on Switch, Minecraft comes out everywhere. Allowing people to buy those games on other platforms while saying “if you were playing on an Xbox you could’ve just gotten this with Game Pass” might be a solid strategy. Dunno if the numbers on that actually pan out or not, though, I’m just spitballin.

Gamepass seems to be a big focus for them so I wouldn't be surprised if they went with that angle, would be smart.

  • It's possible that the current IP (the Elder Scrolls and Fallout) future releases will be released to all platforms but I'd be willing to bet they will also be working on exclusive content as well. There's way too much money to be made by selling the big titles to other consoles, if anything maybe the new releases have a delayed release on PS5 and Switch.

I've been playing this too, great game that I am absolutely terrible at. It reminds me a bit of Dead Cells with how much you can move around and how well it controls. I dunno if I'll ever be able to beat it but I'm enjoying getting shit talked to by random deities as you do the walk of shame back to the next run

I've been playing a lot of Star Wars: Squadrons lately.

It's been an awesome experience. I'm not one for online multiplayer games except for a slim margin, which previously only included Rocket League.

Squadrons has a similar attraction for me. It's a balls-to-the-wall dogfight simulator, and I've never played an aerial-combat game before. It requires a unique skillset to be good at the game, but I've found it to be very rewarding to learn the ins and outs of the mechanics to succeed at the game.

    Anyway, this game is awesome.

Hades is from Supergiant, and if you haven't played their other games yet I highly recommend all of them. They are all interesting in their own way, I liked them all, and they are all a reasonable length for modern games (~10ish hours to beat the main campaign)

Bastion is a isometric diablo-style game with beautiful artwork and amazing narration that responds to what you do in the game.

Transistor is a beautiful cyberpunk rpg with really interesting combat.

Pyre is a story-driven sports game. I had incredibly low hopes but it's actually great.

Been playing Spiritfarer through Game Pass. Fun, chill game with a surprising amount of heart. You replace Charon as the escort of souls to the land of the dead. On the boat, spirits take their true shape with is usually an animal of some sort. You have to do things for them while they are on their trip like give them food and such. It's Animal Crossing-esque but not meant to be played every day to complete digital chores

After putting about 10 hours into this I'm on a run of clearing it three times in a row (only on one and two heat) and I'm upset if I don't have all my death defiances by the time I get to the last boss. It's so good at teaching you what to do and letting you naturally get better, I never feel like I've been practicing or specifically trying to memorize anything.

All of the weapons are fun and completely viable, even the gun I thought I would never use after messing around with it in the training area. On my first run with it I had the triple special shot with lightning on it and a regular attack with homing shots that pushed people away and also inflict lightning and rupture. It melted that stupid fucking butterfly ball miniboss in elysium in about 20 seconds. It was like being a boss character, probably the most fun run I've had other than maybe the lightning shield bounce run. Honestly can't remember the last time I enjoyed a game this much.

Downloaded Breath of the Wild Friday morning on the Switch and I’ve been playing it all weekend with the fam. This is probably going to be my favorite Zelda game of all time.  Just got my paraglider after making the recipe to get my warm doublet.

After you beat it you should go watch some speed runs. It's wild.

I've always found speed running super fascinating. Especially games that are designed to take many hours like BotW
