I don't know, this thread feels more like another ripping the right thread. *shrugs*
Well, he was 100% fired because a right-wing Internet troll started a campaign against him because he tweeted some anti-Trump sentiments.
He also supported the firing of others recently for shit that they said, which has been pointed out by other people (who are liberal), but I digress.
I think this is a well balanced statement in an Open Letter from the from the cast that Chris Pratt posted today, and I agree with much of it. I hope people don't think they are "alt-right" for using the term "mob mentality" here.

How come more people can't be like these folks? Not that I think uber conservatives or SJW liberals will listen and calm the fuck down over this kinda shit sadly.

Because they don't wait 10 days to respond, or even 1 day.

Evidence of which, from some of our brothers and sisters on the forums, can be found in the Chris Hardwick is a POS thread a few weeks back
1. James Gunn apologised for making fun of gay people - he made an apology to GLAAD. At the time, feminists complained about his rape jokes and nothing came of that. Because who gives a fuck about upsetting women? So saying he apologised for everything and everyone should just get over it is fucking false. I don’t care if he gets fired or not. Disney are no angels. What I do care about is that a shitty person said shitty things and punched down for nothing more than shock value, and everyone seems okay with it because he makes movies they like.
2. The firm who “investigated” Chris Hardwick was a firm that works for the Hearst family. Guess which family he married into? So get off your fucking high horse, @anubus21, and stop trying to deliberately rile up people with your Troll 101 bullshit. I see through it, others see through it, and you can just cut it out right now. You wanted back in here to contribute and be part of the community, then do it. You want to be a dick, then you know where that ends.

Don't believe I was trying to troll anyone or rile up anyone. I was pointing out that folks have jumped the gun imo with regards to Hardwick and other topics, so it is good to see people taking time to compose their answers (even if they are Gunn's friends).
You are the one cursing at me and calling me a dick. I do believe I am contributing and you seem to have a personal problem with me.
@anubus21 - "Evidence of which, from some of our brothers and sisters on the forums, can be found in the Chris Hardwick is a POS thread a few weeks back."
I don't want to corroborate Dee's tone, nor do I want to condemn it, but I was like, Damn, I was just making a statement about the cultural zeitgeist and you used it to throw shade on specific individuals here (because we can see names and time stamps). So I had to rile myself back down.
If I want my observations to be personal, I will make them so, thanks.
@JaimieT I didn't mention anyone specifically. IMO some folks in that thread jumped the gun and didn't wait to respond for even 1 day before they buried the guy. Some or all of what she has claimed could still be true, but the evidence since her declaration would seem to suggest otherwise...I could be wrong, don't know yet and I am sure more is yet to come with Hardwick.
The intent of my post was also to comment on how rapidly our culture, and folks on Bald Move, will move to crucify a person. People can read the posts in that thread and make up their own minds. What I don't appreciate is being called a dick, a troll or threatened with being kicked off. I catch insults from folks on here all the time and I responded with cursing in the past, and it got me booted. I don't think what I said was grounds for a personal attack, especially from a mod who then threatens to boot me.
@anubus21 - Okay, well, I still think piggybacking on my statement to make a more pointed statement indirectly skews my statement and is an obnoxious interaction. You don't see a problem with that? Noted.
To clarify my statement now: I was saying that our culture tends to react too quickly and it's helpful to wait even one day for certain situations before making public, direct statements (like on Twitter to celebrities, or on Twitter from celebrities, or the president) and I'm speaking of a societal trend not individuals. I also find yakking on mostly-private message boards to be overall healthy.

Wasn't my intent to skew your statement. I think most people on here know that you and I don't share the same viewpoints on certain issues so I'm sorry if you felt that I hijacked your comment. And I agree with you on your clarification.
I am vegetarian so the ham part is out, but pineapple belongs on pizza
Yay or nay on black olives?
No olives of any kind, anywhere!
Have to go with you there, for some reason I can't deal with those little buggers! Now green or red pepper...bring that on all day every day, and some pickled jalapenos!
Just a few things that may or not have been said already.
The kinds of jokes Gunn was tweeting were pretty common in the comedy world at one time. Pedophilia jokes aren't made with the intent of minimizing pedophilia. I'd say they were more along the lines of crude, absurdist humor, though that's very hard to explain if you're not in that world. There was a time where I did open mikes and hung out with a lot of other comics (some pros among them), and pretty much any subject matter was up for grabs. Watch the Aristocrats, for example. That's not to say the jokes are defensible or that they aren't potentially hurtful. I regret many jokes I used to make.
Would also say there's only a couple of those tweets that strike me as truly gross or insensitive. Many of the ones in the screenshot going around simply involve children, and there's a cumulative effect intended when they collage a bunch of harmless stuff in with a couple jokes that maybe cross the line.
I don't mind Disney firing him, though I don't think they should have. It's their call though, and nobody is entitled to a job.
What I don't like is the idea that Gunn is a secret pedophile or that these jokes or tweets somehow indicate support of pedophilia, which is an argument going around among these alt-right trolls. This is similar to the "spirit cooking" emails that were leaked from John Podesta before the 2016 election, and that Wikileaks was promoting. The same kind of trolls suggested John Podesta was into cannibalism because his brother invited him to a weird art exhibit with simulated human blood. The same kind of trolls assembled a bunch of instagram pictures and emails that involved children in any way, and spun that up into Pizzagate.
We have to come up with a term for when Bald Movers get sick of a thread and turn it into a pizza discussion. "Realizing he was about to make the exact same argument for the 20th time, Shum decided it was time to pineapplize the forum thread."

Lol right there with you dude. Backspaced sooo many comments this morning.
Think of all of the innocent Hawaiian-Pizza loving people that we have thoughtlessly destroyed!
You’re destroying lives!
