I don't mind the pizza diversions so much, but it is a little weird that this thread is part inside baseball on the MCU's future and part #metoo discussion. I know the Gunn story is where the two meet but I never know when I click the thread if we're talking about the movies or the toxic masculinity.
No offense to anyone (seriously, because I like everyone here & am not here for any drama), but who cares??? Conversations get sidetracked. Whether it's with intent or not, it happens. That doesn't mean the conversation can't be brought back to topic. Really, is it *that* big a deal? Even if a certain person intentionally makes one comment that isn't on topic, is it the end of the world? Just bring it back to topic & move forward. That's my feeling on it, anyway.

No, I've been here for a *long* time and have seen a lot. I've just never really spoken up because I really don't care all that much when it happens. To me, there are other things in life that are worth worrying about; the direction of a forum thread is the least of them.
Disney is kind of in a box at this point. They either rehire him and eat crow with resulting conservative outrage and boycotting, try to make a movie without whim which may bomb and if it does the firing of Gunn will be blamed, or just give up on a stand-alone franchise which has been so profitable for them and try to work them in more to future team-up or spin-off movies.
I don't even like Marvel, but this offends me as a writer. Good for Bautista.
I love Disney (going to Disney World in September) and I can see where they want to keep their clean image, but this is starting to get stupid. What moron would throw out the script if it's pretty much complete? Someone high up in Disney must have a real stick up his/her ass about all this and obviously cares little for how this can hurt all the Marvel movies going forward.
To lose Bautista would be a big blow to the movie, and if all the actors banded together and said "hire him/use his script or we walk" I think Disney would have to capitulate. They may all have contracts but I am betting that the actors would be willing to put their feet to the floor and play hardball if this keeps up.
It's gone past the folks on the right who made hay of all his previous comments. This is all on Disney now in my opinion and I think they are going all in on a losing hand.

Rewatched Infinity War last night. I take back what I said about James Gunn's comedic voice being replaceable. The dialogue & comedy was clearly unique and on another level of hilarity when GotG were on. The "why is Gamora", master Jesus, and pirate angel jokes? So good. This whole thing is really unfortunate. You can't replace Bautista.
