Ozark on Netflix
Guys, this is such a good show! I just started season 2 but had to go back to the end of season 1 to figure out where it ended up. I need help analyzing it all as it is so reminiscent of Breaking Bad! I guess I could watch and rewatch each episode but I prefer your opinions and insight as I am so lazy!!! Whose with me?

Once I finish Season 2 I think I'll be rewatching the first season...
Why doesn’t this show get more love? It’s awesome.

Not sure if theyll do one for this season.
I still think she has the worst accent of any of them. It sounds like she watched season 5 of Justified and took her inspiration from Dewey's cousin Daryl Crowe Jr.
I swear she sounds like a female version of him through most of the show.
I have to give her props for a great acting job there.
I can't wait for season 3. And thank god I won't have to wait 2 years. And yes this is a dig at GOT.
I was absolutely bingewatching all of season 2 and it was a very, very long time since I have been so into a tv show. I love how the characters are developing, I love the bleakness of it all, love the blue-grayish colors/"look" of the show.... Ok, there are some moments that are a bit unbelievable, but I simply don't care, cause I am so engaged in all the characters. I absolutely hate Darlene, but love all the other characters!
I hope everyone will hit up Netflix on like Twitter or something, and express how crucial it is that we get a season 3!!! <span>
It will only take 8 months to film and edit the footage of season 3, but it will be a minimum 3 years until season 3 is released while Netlfix scrambles to produce an Ozark prequel series.
Seriously though, I'd like to hear where our thoughts differed. Like I said, I sorta halfway background watched it.
you both were wondering what happend to Wendy’s lover. Since he was killed in season 1 episode 1 I wouldnt expect many to remember. This all happened because the cartel was investigating Marty due to them finding out that his partner stole money. Wendy walked into his condo and found the cartel already there questioning him. This was after he told her to clean out their bank accounts and leave him. While that was happening Marty was talking to his PI and he found out that she cleaned the personal account out. PI told Marty where to find them and he headed over. As he was about to go confront them her lover had an accident and fell from his balcony. This was all because she was having an affair and told her lover what was going on. He then allowed Wendy to come back instead of her having an accident as well.
I dont agree that Ruth was underserved this season. If anything we saw the total setup of her being a power player next season (will talk more about this at the end). She has learned the books and now knows the connections so really she wouldn’t need Marty as much, if at all. The biggest “step up” was when she gave Wendy the information about her father knowing that Wendy would then relay that information and her father would be killed. She had realized that he needed to go and that she wasn’t able to do the deed herself.
You both discussed why Darlene would kill Jacob. This was setup this season when he made multiple compromises to better the family. The first was that he killed the help\friend to get the cartel off of their back. He then gave up the land (more than once if you include the OK of the crop burn) that was not only in the family for a long time, but was symbolic to them due to the state trying to flood them purposefully off of it. Darlene felt he had made too many compromises that ruined much of their core values that they had fought for generations to keep. She had always been an enforcer and this time he had pushed it too far.
For Roy, I didn’t see them using that he was a closeted gay as his downfall. While him hiding it to keep things “ok” at work was a small part it was more of his abusive obsessive nature. His tendency to lash out violently when things didn’t go his way was a much bigger one. He was mentally unstable period (which I think they tried to show via his former partner that this wasn’t new).
Im surprised that the women of the cast taking over the power roles wasn’t discussed at all really. At the end of the show we have Wendy who is in charge (more so than Marty), Ruth as her number 2, Helen as the face of the Cartel and possibly much more than what she’s claiming to be (just their lawyer) and lastly Darlene who has taken over For Jacob as head of the family. I thought this more than the KC Mob or upcoming Casino was more interesting than those upcoming stories.
Also, I believe Charlotte is 15/16. She was 15 episode 1 of season 1. The show hasn’t been renewed yet for season 3.
Outisde of of the looks of the show (it being shot with a blue filter and being DARK even when watching during day) I saw a lot of positive responses to the show. I have a friend who can get hyper critical of shows like this and she loved this season (we are all in agreement that Season 2 was an improvement over season 1). I guess I didn’t see the cool response (outside of how it looked).
Opps sorry for the long reply...thank you again for the cast hoping you two get to do it again for season 3.
