  • Wow. The Warriors might not even make the playoffs next year. Klay is out til March. kD maybe all year. Curry going to have to average 40. Going to be interesting to see if he puts this team on his shoulders and just balls out...

3 years later and Ibaka is still the NBA's Most Valuable Dancer.

Readily admit I know little about basketball. I watched the end of the game and saw .9 seconds on the clock - game played - game over - .9 seconds back on the clock - game played - and then the game really over? I'm probably more curious than I need be but what happened? Redo?

It's 3am here and the streets are still full of people - like over 100,000 people!  We're celebrating like we're a member of the USWNT who just scored the 13th goal in a rout of the worst teams in the world!  :p
Is that for the win or did they hear the news about Klay tearing his ACL?

The clock doesn't start until someone touches the ball in bounds, but as the ball was being thrown in, the warriors committed a foul, meaning the play never actually started. The game was over by all accounts with .9 left, but they have to be really technical about how much time is put back if needed so no one calls it unfair if a team doesn't get a chance, even without the chance to win. So it should never have gone to zero in the first place, but that's what the discussion was about.
  • It just occurred to me that though Klay and KD's injuries were crippling for the Warriors this time out, it may very well have extended their dynasty. KD for sure was going to leave town and Klay quite possibly so. Now with both of them being out for next season it may be a hard sell for other teams to offer max contracts to them. Hell, the Dubs may just have a chance to re-sign them and by 2021 we're back to them being in the Finals for years to come.

I still think KD will get the offer he wants either this summer or next from another team. The best player in the world still in his prime doesn't become available like this very often, he's worth the extra year and rolling the dice on how he comes back. You never really know for sure but Klay was probably going to stay either way. I just really hope they come back full strength wherever they're playing, getting injuries like that when they're about to be free agents in line for max deals truly sucks.

Klay will be back...the Warriors aren't going to open a new arena with a half-assed team.  They have the money, he apparently wants to stay...he'll be there.

They did that so the commentators could have an extra five minutes to discuss what the Warriors could possibly do to win in .9 seconds haha

For fucks sake. What is with New Orleans's desire to trade top tier talent to the goddamn Lakers?

What a shit show in New Orleans. They just needed to get under the shadow of Davis once and for all. Focus around Zion and build for the future.
  • CoryCory New Scotland
Now they're going to be under the shadow of LaVarr Ball's idiocy though.

That's a lot of picks, it went about as well as it could have for the Pelicans short of AD deciding he wanted to stay. They're going to be a super young team with tons of talent and assets while probably competing for the playoffs next year.

I hope the Lakers miss the playoffs again and Lebron demands to be traded to Boston or some shit.
  • I really hope that the Rap's parade is on TV in America...it's absolutely insane here.  There's an estimated 2-3 million people in the streets of Toronto...businesses have shut down, pretty much everyone I know got the day off work etc.  There are so many people downtown that the police have asked people to stop coming, and they've shut down the subways to prevent more people from coming.  There are so many people in the city that cell phone coverage is down - all of the telecommunication networks are overloaded.

The parade was supposed to run from 11am to 1pm.  It's 1:30 and the buses carrying the players haven't even arrived yet because the streets are overflowing.

They did incredibly well considering he demanded a trade and made it clear he'd only consider resigning with two teams. This trade and Zion could definitely turn them into a championship team.
  • Anthony Davis to the Lakers? When did that happen?

I agree, except for years later when Zion demands a trade and they ship him to the Lakers.

By then, they'll be set up to draft Lebron Jr.

According to the people on the radio I was listening to this morning you can make a bet right now on who wins the title next year, a team from California or the rest of the field.

Caesars Sportsbook posted a unique proposition on whether a team from California will win the 2019-20 NBA championship. That includes the Lakers, Clippers, Warriors and Kings (Yes +175). The other 26 teams represent the "No" (-210).

Vegas seems to think Kawhi is going to be a Clipper. Even with that, I still think you would have to take the rest of the field and I'm tempted to go put some money on this right now. The Warriors just showed everybody what can happen to a top heavy team like the new look Lakers are probably going to end up being. It's still far from a done deal Kawhi will be in LA and even then that team isn't a lock to make the finals, much less win it. Golden State is going to have a down year with so much of the cap invested in star players who aren't playing and the Kings are the Kings until proven otherwise.

This is shaping up to be one of the most wild seasons in recent memory. Even with everything so up in the air almost any way you shake it a ton of teams are going to believe they have a shot at the title. I'm really glad Boston imploded instead of becoming the next juggernaut like it looked like was going to happen this time last year.

Watching NBA draft on vakay in a jacuzzi with ice and a bottle of beam near by. Goddamn I love the NBA draft. I love the emotion and the stories. Hoops is the realest sport ever.
