My flight to Chicago just landed. It was a duel between Crawl and Rocketman.  So glad I went with Rocketman. Amazing. And I usually don’t like musicals but I do very much like the bottomless treasure chest of Elton John jams.  Why do I always pick tearjerkers on flights and have to hold it together surrounded by strangers!?  But man...a messed up childhood and family and self-hate and self-doubt and turning that into addiction and then getting it turned around....it’s inspiring. I’m walking out of this airport feeling like a champ after watching that.  Beautiful day in Chicago!
If you ask me, the only thing you should ever watch is Terminator.

I love this movie more every time I see it. It’s jumped all the way to my #3 spot.

I actually think that is a thing. I think I've read stories about traveling bringing out more emotions than you typically would display. I know it happened to me when I was waiting on a flight in San Francisco and watched True Grit. God I lost it at the end and was a sobbing wreck.

Seriously though, Ford V Ferrari podcast is some of yalls best work.

edit: Took out the Fast and the Furious quote. Jamie is right, it was in poor taste.

Ahhhhh I forgot Jim and A.Ron were doing Ford v. Ferrari, I'm so happy.  What a fricken amazing movie.  Makes me want to go pull my AMC Gremlin out of storage and slam the accelerator through the floor.

Definitely not. Its just that Ford V Ferrari is the most exciting car movie since The Fast and the Furious, and it never ceases to amaze me how behind the times it is.

    Charlie’s Angels | ★★★

These are 3 very generous stars because this is the most enjoyable I’ve found a movie this dumb in a long time, and it’s almost entirely because Kristen Stewart is an icon, AND WE STAN ICONS IN THIS HOUSEHOLD.

She’s having the type of fun that someone has when they think they might never get to have any again. She’s having Woo Vegas fun, the type of fun that has to work a desk job every day with the goal of having one real vacation every two years, like there’s a last call for fun before it gets shipped off to somewhere she’s not.

Greenlight five more of these and give Her Grace an amazing new haircut and wardrobe every time, please.

  • War, Inc.  2008 dark, quirky comedy with John and Joan Cusack, Dan Akroyd, Ben Kingsley, Marisa Tomei.  Seen it before a few years back but in our modern day the concept of an
all privatized military where we use name brands to sponsor the military holds up in my opinion.  Standard Cusack weirdness really keeps things watchable for some WTF moments,
  • Ford v Ferrari is what movie theaters were made for.

  • I was really surprised to hear @A_Ron_Hubbard reaction to Uncut Gems. The reviews coming out of the festivals is that it is one of the best movies of the year and there is serious Oscar buzz for Sandler.

This seems to be a good year for movies. I don't see how anything can top Parasite but it's exciting.

  • I just signed up for the Regal unlimited. Gonna try to see Parasite, Jo Jo Rabbit and Ford v Ferrari all next week.

That's a damn fine lineup you've got there.  I've got AMC A List and was extremely impressed with all of those movies.  If The Lighthouse is still playing anywhere near you that's the only other one I'd add to that list of quality movies.

Try to stay spoiler free. It's such an unpredictable ride... reminds me why I love movies.

  • Parasite and Jo Jo Rabbit are on my list. Knives out looks intriguing if for no other reason to see Chris Evans outside of the MCU.

I'm seeing Knives Out on Friday. AMC has told me this is an early screening but IDK. I was a huge Chris Evans fan before the MCU  :'(  (via Sunshine, Loss of a Teardrop Diamond, Scott Pilgrim and okay FF4) and was always kind of annoyed the MCU took him, until I became an MCU fan last year. Despite hating TLJ, I'm actually more interested in seeing Rian Johnson do a murder mystery. I think this is too much of an ensemble for Chris to get much time, and we've seen most of him in the trailer... obvs I could be wrong.

All this time I thought Parasite was a remake of that horrible 80’s movie so I was confused by the kudos. I just saw a trailer and it’s now on my list. I hope others aren’t fooled by the name.
  • Went in for a Fred Rogers biopic and came out with a free therapy session. Whew, my eyes hurt.

    Frozen 2

Well, I am enjoying the opportunity to dislike a movie I had extremely high hopes for without anyone telling me my opinion is poorly informed.

No sarcasm though, I am probably going to be depressed for 3 days starting today (and I am most definitely depressed today).

I enjoyed it, it wasn't as good as the first one but still entertaining and fun.

    Knives Out - 8.5/10

Good solid fun. Great marketing around it too, with a text campaign from a character, and some small perks for those of us who went to the early screening (a poster, raffle prize, and thank you from the director).

Weekend of the Twos. It 2 and Frozen 2.

It 2 - fun, creepy, scary at moments. Also in line with the original, super not scary and lame at moments.

Frozen 2 - boys had to pee at the crest so I have no fucking idea how it resolved.  Felt very sequel. Same songs different lyrics.   But also I have to say....many times I was cracking up. Sometimes cracking up at places I’m pretty sure the film didn’t intend. There was a road head joke in there right!?

There was a BDSM joke at the end, followed immediately by Olaf saying he didn't know Kristoff "could last an hour," so I wouldn't be surprised.

;) I chuckled at that too.  Disney is getting kinda naughty with the under the radar jokes.

Ziggy as Eddie was an excellent casting choice

There was a GoT reference too.
