As the Canada-US border closes, speculation here is that Trudeau wanted to close the border when he made his announcement yesterday but let Trump save face by making it a "mutual agreement" today. I hope no one dies because everyone has to placate the man child.
I can confirm from a semi-reliable source (an Ontario MP) that we wanted to close the border with the US but didn't because Trump threatened punitive actions for making America look bad. What changed was that doctors/scientists in America convinced Trump that it was a good idea.
Salt Lake City was hit with an earthquake this morning, so that's the end of rational thought around here...
Both Goldfield and Magna. I live in Cali so of course I have an earthquake app.
And the obligatory fake rumor that FEMA (and the Air Force...) said there would a another 9.0 quake following 2hrs later that spread like wildfire due to hysteria and lack of critical thinking skills. We had several employees raise it and I just kept saying: 1. You can’t predict a specific earthquake. 2. Provide reliable source of the information or ignore it.
Just got the word that I and a few other key admin in our company will be working from home starting in the next day or two. We're just working out the details on the day to day, since part of what I do involves our incoming mail, check payments, deposits, etc. It's going to be interesting.
Meanwhile in the land of denial, my company just decide that they really only need like....6 laptops in case we all have to work from home. This despite the fact that they knowingly allowed someone who had a high chance of exposure into the building already and several hundred drivers who’ve interacted with god knows what over the past weeks. At this point I’ve made peace with the fact that they’re going just either around until they’re forced to close when the state shuts down and then they’ll have to just do some massive layoffs. I’d protest but my supervisor is the only other IT guy and he’s 65+ so I can’t in good conscious leave it all up to him.
In the first good news in a while, well not good just OK. I found a case of hand soap in my cellar. Don't remember ever buying it. No idea why I bought it and never usually buy cases of anything.
Looking to see if I Sleep-bought toilet paper too.
My daughter was in tears a couple of days ago because she had yet another shift cancelled - she works in a restaurant. I really felt for her, but I also had to give her a bit of a reality check. She has about $30k in savings (mostly from an inheritance) and me to come home to if she needs to. My job is very secure and likely to get more busy with overtime if anything else so I won’t have any problem feeding myself and her if necessary.
I reminded her that many of her friends - including her housemate - don’t have family support and live pay to pay, and would be really struggling to pay rent and eat at the moment. It was a sobering moment for her. She’s a lovely, kind girl, but she doesn’t realise her own privilege at times.

Also, I’ve had a cold the last week and my daughter has been texting me early mornings to check on me. She usually works nights and is rarely up before 10 or 11am so I realised this morning that she has been setting an alarm for 7am and then texting to make sure I’m okay.
I rarely post on the Bald Move forum (too shy!) but I feel like I know you regular posters. I've felt the emotional ups and downs with you all since this thread first started. We were supposed to leave for Japan this Sunday. We canceled a month ago. That now seems like a year ago.
We're in San Diego, I have two kids (a teen and a tween) and adjusting to home schooling for the rest of the year and trying to give my business the attention it requires is challenging to say the least. We're driving each other nuts and we've only been quarantined since Friday. This last page of posts started to have some more levity (except for those Miami kids!) and it put a munch needed smile on my face. Thank you Bald Movers! I feel like Dee is my mum too, and she's never heard of me! The Bald Move community is amazing. I've never seen anything like it.

So my work is still trying to figure out the logistics of sending hundreds of techs and pharmacists home with the correct equipment so we can perform remote entry. Yesterday I was refilling my water and started talking to a coworker who had been on PTO for a couple of weeks and I asked the usual polite water cooler coworker questions. “How was your time off?” “ do anything fun?” And this is how I learned my coworker just returned from a two week vacation in the UK and defied quarantine protocol by coming to work. So there’s that.

Oh, I'm no longer a lesbian, I don't want the fascists to kill me! Whoever rules the world in 5 years, that's what I am!

@Dee is the cool, hip one.
