...starts tonight!  Who's your fav?  I'm #teamredbeard all the way - Kevin Gillespie ftw!  Not only is he highly awarded and revered, he also beat renal cancer and is just a generally awesome guy. :star:

  • I tried to watch David Chang's food show on Netflix, and watching people sharing food, and eating adventurously in India just isn't the same in a COVID world....

This is a great episode so far!  I'm kinda having fun seeing some of these chefs back on the show - Angelo, Gregory, and Joe Sasto especially.  :)

Am I the only one who thinks Jen Carroll is overrated?  Her personality turns me off of liking her as a person and wanting to root for her.

starting now! never had a problem with Jen Carroll cause she always backed up her food, and said it like it was. curious to see how she has evolved since the LV season (which was my favorite season). that season was over 10 years ago which still blows my mind.

Right?  I wonder if she’ll make it to Restaurant Wars this time.

It was a close call for team red beard! :grimace:  I thought it was going to be another RIchard Blais TOC moment!

for as much as i like Lee Anne, i thought she was gonna go home. she swung and missed during the quick fire and absolutely destroyed that fish in the actual competition.

side note on the judges. Marcus Samuelsson (and his oversized hats) and Nancy Silverton get to be judge on TC too?! lucky!

    Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!
So happy for Kevin's win!  And you could see how much it meant to him.
He has so much heart, and I love that he made his granny's apple butter and *won* with it.
I wish I could try it!

At the same time, I'm so sad to see Angelo go.
    Time for LCK though!

i was happy about Kevin too, and agree 100% on how much it meant to him. he was genuinely grateful.

as far as who went home, i thought the girl (forget her name) that served bad Indian food to Padma was gonna pack her knives.

Yes!  It was kinda weird without her.

Tonight's episode was fun.  I thought Kevin's dishes looked so bright and pretty.  I thought he was going to win, but I'm happy for Melissa.  And how does Leanne keep squeaking by week after week?  I really think next week she'll be gone.

    Chinaski
  • My family and I all placed bets on who the chef that makes it the longest, I picked Gregory and I am happy to have a quickfire win under his belt. But my sister picked Melissa...I am worried. I do looovvee Melissa though!

Melissa is crushing it. that coconut corn soup looked silky smooth and really well put together. and i agree about Leanne, if it's not one thing it's another for her. she just seems so frazzled. did you see the 'next week on' preview? looks like she's gonna have a really scary moment.

ugh Malarky is so obnoxious. was really hoping him and his oily fish got sent home.

I've been so lax on posting in here, but I caught up on this week's episode today.
Totally agree about Brian Malarky.  I'm so not a fan.  If there was a gif to describe him, it would be (as you @Chinaski put it in a different thread), one of Dee's fav:

I thought this week's quickfire concept was creative.  For the most part, almost all them pretty much nailed it.
I was surprised to see Jen go so early in the season - I could have sworn it would have been Stephanie or Leanne.
On the other hand, I'm super excited that Kevin continues to thrive.  He's my choice for winner of the season.
He's an outstanding chef and really good guy, plus he beat cancer recently and just deserves something good.
If I'm ever in Atlanta again, I'm so going to make sure I get reservations to Gunshow or Revival early enough that I can enjoy a great meal there.

Team Kevin. He was robbed the first time he was on there.

i thought of the bottom 3, it was gonna be not Jen. and i complete agree, the quickfire was super fun. both steak dishes were pretty spot on presentation wise.

and going back to Malarky, yeah he's annoying. i call him San d EGO.

    Go Kevin and Melissa!  :star:
When I saw them pair up I was wishing so hard they'd come up with something really brilliant and creative.  I'm not a big cabbage fan, but that dish was truly inspired and looked *really* delicious.  I was worried for Leanne and Malarkey given how they were struggling to get along, but they were oh so close to the win.
Watching Bryan V/Eric and Nini/Karen face elimination, my heart sunk.  I like all of them a lot, and really thought it would be Stephanie's time.  Bryan seems to have a lot of challenges all season so far though.  In the end, it was Nini & Karen.  Big sigh of relief.  I'd have hated for Eric to go home so soon.

    Has anyone been watching LCK?
    Chinaski
  • ChinaskiChinaski Santa Cruz, CA
good episode. i was hoping the judges were going to be like 'well this is no longer a double elimination..it is now a no elimination'. since they said themselves that it didn't seem right to send someone home for serving good dishes. then again, that's the game.

i haven't been watching LCK. i'm still not a fan of it tbh.

    p.s. Malarkey is still obnoxious

    Definition of malarkey

: insincere or foolish talk : He thinks that everything politicians say is a bunch of malarkey.
