Remake Outrage / Intrigue

What’s a movie that... if it were announced that a remake were in the works, you’d be “outraged” but also kind of intrigued?

I’ll go first: The Goonies.

Also... The Great Escape.

most classic John Hughes movies that have been 'untouchable'. i.e Ferris Bueller's, Weird Science, Breakfast Club.

    Nice.

Stand By Me. Kinda like It recently being redone, a seemingly untouchable Stephen King classic.

Disney’s animated Robin Hood going live action or a modern animation remake.  I shudder and also yeah I’d probably need to see it.

Oh man... I love that movie. Just thinking about this possibility is nightmare fuel.

Would they CGI re-animate Roger Miller but also make him an anthropomorphic rooster?

When Harry Met Sally.  It’s perfectly cast and acted as it is, and the chemistry between Meg Ryan & Billy Crystal, and Carrie Fisher & Bruno Kirby, is something that can’t be matched by anyone else.

I’d be outraged but definitely not intrigued by a remake of The Great Escape. I don’t need to see Harry Styles helping blind Tom Hiddleston off the crashed plane while Ansel Elgort throws a ball at a wall in the cooler thank you very much.

Oh Maid Marian. Making kids realize they are furries since 1973.

Also, I'm kind of surprised they haven't remade it TBH. They have both the lion king/jungle book tech AND the zootopia tech (art? not sure what the best word there is), both of which I'd think could be adapted to remake Robin Hood pretty easily. Plus it's a public domain story.

  • What’s a movie that no studio would want to touch if it was rumored to be remade?

Movies like Pulp Fiction, Star Wars, Annie Hall and The Godfather come to mind. How the hell would they improve upon or even match the genius of those films?
  • Pulp Fiction (Or any Tarantino film really)
    Forrest Gump
    The Green Mile
The Fisher King  (Better question, what Robin Williams movie would you want to see remade?)
American Beauty (Though it would be nice not having the Spacey taint)

    Roman Holiday
    My Fair Lady

    No one can replace Audrey!

  • After they did Lion King I can't feel anything about remakes anymore. They will do any and all of these once the fourteenth transformers reboot stops making money and they need something to make money to fill the three years until the next transformers reboot.
  • Remaking any of the ‘Back to the Future’ movies would be an absolute crime.

No one can replace or recreate what Robin did, but I could see the studios green lighting a Mrs. Doubtfire remake.
  • I'd be intrigued by what 45 years of movie making technology would mean to a remake of Jaws, but the inevitable failure would be outrageous.

I used both intrigued and outrageous in my response, do I win?

  • Casablanca would be all outrage no intrigue.

I always thought a sequel to Ferris Bueller might be cool.  Like him and Cameron taking a day off from their bullshit corporate jobs to... I dunno... go fishing, or something?

    ...OK, maybe not.

The Exorcist was the first (and perhaps last) movie to scare the shit out of me. It must not be messed with.

Yeah, this was going to be mine. About as close to a perfect movie as they come.

I feel like there have been movies made with the basic framework of Roman Holiday but never explicitly called a remake. I think Katie Holmes was is one of them
