I love you Tommy! growing up in LA County in the seventies you were in awe of the Dodgers. Saw many games with him at the helm. Most highlights involve him getting ejected. If anyone represents Angelenos he is a good choice. Vins wife passed away a few days ago. Vin was the voice Tommy was the heart. Play ball Tommy!
I know this is “RIP 2021”, so declaration, not wishing peaceful rest - I’m not going to defend Phil Spector, as you all probably know he was an awful hurtful umm murderous person. He is also a big part of music history. And a notable part of hairdo history.
Legendary, trailblazing, iconic actress, staunch advocate for human & civil rights and equality and absolute queen, Cicely Tyson, passed today. I have a small number of celebrities that I consider to be people that I would hold in the highest regard, and she is at the top of the list. I admire her guts, her tenacity, her unwavering faith in everything good, her confidence, her strength, her wisdom, and her beautiful soul. There will never be another quite like her.
I remember reading how he ended up in the ER recently. And someone involved in the case said something along the lines of, "We are going to make him as comfortable as possible." That is never a great thing to hear in general.
Jazz musician pianist Chick Corea 79. He was one of my favorite fusion players. He had a group called Return To Forever. He also played with Miles Davis on some of his ground breaking work including the Bitches Brew recordings I wish I could have seen him preform live.
Rupert Neve. You might not recognize his name, but his work changed your life. Neve was a pioneer in the music business, an engineer who designed studio equipment that is still highly sought after today. The Neve console at just one studio (Sound City in LA) recorded over 100 Gold and Platinum albums from Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Nirvana, Johnny Cash, Metallica, and too many others to list.
Rush Limbaugh. To quote a tweet I saw, "All I'm asking that you treat the news of Rush Limbaugh's death with the same level of respect he gave, undocumented immigrants, women, Michael J. Fox, minorities, rape victims, LGBTQ individuals etc."
Edit - also this tweet - "Live your life in such a way that "Rest in Piss" does not trend when you die."

Also RIP Mira Furlan, who played Danielle Rousseau on Lost. At first everyone thought it was a hoax, but it’s been confirmed.
