  I think a beat for beat adaptation would be just as cool as a new story set in that world. But Ellie and Joel are so much of what makes that story excellent so I’m leaning more toward the adaptation

  I'm stoked for it. Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and Neil Druckmann (Last of Us videogames) are the showrunners so it definitely has the blueprint to be great. I agree with @gguenot that Ellie and Joel are what will make or break it. I'm keeping my expectations in check until I hear about casting.

  All This!!! I cannot wait for this. My favorite game of all time and still have the play Last of Us 2. They better cast W. Earl Brown as Bill. So many voice over actors could actually play their in game characters. Just thinking about the making of this show gives me goosebumps.

  I was hoping for Kaitlyn Dever, but maybe she's aged out of the role. I can see Bella being a good pick, but it's hard to imagine her with an American accent.

  I absolutely had Kaitlyn Dever etched in my brain for that role, which is really the only reason I’m disappointed.  Playing Ellie is going to be a tall task indeed...

  I am so hype for this show. I know a lot of people are tired of zombies, but I haven't really watched any zombie stuff since early walking dead (I think season 5 ish? The prison is the last thing I remember - I still listen to the podcast though as I find it weirdly compelling lol), so I don't feel inundated with it, and I want a decent horror/action series.

  When I think of The Last of Us, I do think of zombies. But thats certainly not the first thing I think of. I think of the masterful storytelling that uses the prism of a zombie apocalypse to tell human stories. I am only tired of zombies when they are done poorly. But seeing Train to Busan, The Last of Us, and Black Summer (I am sure I am missing others) I am reminded how good this stuff can be.
