The first 10 seasons work for me but the real gold is the seasons with Phil Hartman. RIP Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz. 2 of the greatest side characters ever created
Wynonna Earp on Netflix. It's like Justified meets Supernatural with a primarily female cast. The show itself is schlocky and not great but man it's fun to watch. And it does manage to hit some high points every now and then.
Binged final 3 episodes of Behind Her Eyes. It’s a good watch but IMO it would have been better with fewer episodes...or as a movie. Some spots felt like they were just plodding along to fill time.
There is a twist which I suspected but not until episode 5 so was still surprised to find out it was true.
The One on Netflix. I really enjoyed the book by John Marrs, so I was keen to see this series, but it’s an adaptation in name only. The story is completely different, the characters are completely different (and boring!), and the acting is sub par. The main antagonist especially seems to have studied at the Disney Wicked Stepmother School of Acting - she’s awful, and not in a “wow, what a great villain” kind of way.
My advice: skip this garbage and read the book instead.
I've been watching Search Party on HBO Max. Kind of surprised I've never heard of this before. The main character is the niece from Arrested Development. I think it's very sharply written, and the mystery of the main plot is kind of interesting too. It reminds me a lot of Silicon Valley where the characters are bad people with unhealthy relationships, but still somehow fun to watch. And it blends the serious plot and the humor very well.
Just finished the first season but I'm totally hooked. 23 minute episodes never hurts either. Anybody else seen it and enjoyed it?

Saw the first season recently and enjoyed it but haven't gotten around to continuing. FWIW I do hear it talked about fairly regularly outside of BM so there is an audience somewhere, I heard season 3 was really good.
Finally got to The Crown. Cruised through season 1 and absolutely love the series so far. John Lithgow...amazing. Claire Foy...amazing. Great actors chosen for the portrayal of The Royal Family. Being a bit of a history buff, this hits the spots for me. Some of it strays, but unforgivingly.
WandaVision. Once they moved past the TV show tributes and expanded to what was happening outside of Westview, it felt entirely like a single Marvel movie split into a handful of episodes. Which is certainly not a bad thing. I was wondering if I would find the post-Infinity Stones MCU at all intriguing, and there's certainly some stuff to mine there. It didn't all quite work for me, but the performances were good and it didn't ever feel like it was overstaying its welcome the way the Netflix Marvel shows always did.
The Umbrella Academy I never bothered with this before because I have no interest in superhero stories (The Boys being the one exception) and it looked very YA, but the other day a YouTube video I was watching finished and on came a recap of S1 from Man of Recaps and I was about two minutes in before I thought, “Actually, this seems kind of interesting”, so I stopped the video and started the first episode. Three days later I’ve got two episodes of S2 left to watch.
It’s not perfect - a lot of it is messy and a lot of scenes go on way too long, some of the acting is pretty dire (Luther), and while the soundtrack is awesome there are far too many music breaks. However, overall I am loving it. The kid who plays Five is amazing - he’s giving off some serious Jason Schwartzman vibes but he’s even better. He’s definitely out-acting most of the adult cast. Robert Sheehan is playing pretty much the same character he always plays, and of course exceptionally well because he’s done it a million times before. Even Elliott Page, who I normally can’t stand, had grown on me by the end of the first season.
I’m hoping to finish the last two episodes tonight and then I guess I’ll be just sitting around waiting for S3.
Anyone else watching the HBO documentary "Q:IntotheStorm"?
The folks behind 8-Chan and possibly Q are pretty wild characters, especially the father-son team at the center of it. I had read some stuff about them but to see and hear them is a different thing. I'm 3 episodes in and enjoying it ... and also at the same time it makes me somewhat pessimistic about the future of our society. Yay!
I have been going back and watching the first few season of Great British Bake Off I had never seen and it is funny the subtle little changes you notice in those early seasons. The show has remarkably stayed very much the same throughout but I noticed there is less showing of how very supportive everyone is during the competition.
I do not think that anyone is out for blood or actively rooting against anyone by any means but I have noticed more eye rolling and stares while others are being judged and less shots of the other contestants saying "good job!" to someone as they bring their Showstopper back to their bench. I wonder if it is the more modern contestants have seen this on years of the show or the producers are jazzing that up a little. I do not picture this as a heavily produced show but I am sure that is an element.
Sandi is my individual favorite host but Mel and Sue are by far the best team. I have also noticed that quite often you will see them snacking on a contestant's bake and I fee like that is something you NEVER see anymore.
I am also wondering when the Hollywood Handshake officially became a thing. He has not done it yet and I am curious of its actual first appearance.
Solar Opposites. Some of you will know that I cannot stand Rick and Morty because of the gross gagging and drooling, but thankfully Solar Opposites doesn’t have that going on. I saw that S2 was out and I had to rewatch S1 because I couldn’t remember a thing about it. I can’t believe I had completely forgotten the wall story! Anyway, I binged both seasons over Easter, very easy watch and the wall story is still great.
Unforgotten S4 I was not prepared (don’t Google it if you intend to watch it - there’s big spoilers out there). I just love this show so much - it’s so nice to see a show about cops where they just get on with it and don’t have all those annoying TV-cop-personality-tropes, and the suspects are not just generic bad guys. I cried buckets, and was once again annoyed with teeny tiny British seasons where you wait two years for a new season and then bang it out in a day and have to wait around for the next one.

I don't know why but the one gag that's always stuck with me from season 1 is the "Burn Victim Trash Man"... just hilarious. Honestly 8 episodes seem too short for a half-hour animation like this (I definitely expected more story from the wall than they were able to do). Glad they'll have 12 for season 3!

I signed up to Amazon Prime while The Boys is on and while I was tooling around seeing what else they had, I stumbled on this gem of a show called Loudermilk. Starring Ron Livingston and Will Sasso, it’s about a cranky jerk who leads a sober living group. It’s super low key and not really any other big names in it (though AHS watchers will recognise Mat Fraser), but it’s surprisingly easy to watch given the subject matter, and I ploughed through two seasons in a few days while I’ve been on holiday.
I found out last week that Season 3 of this was released over New Year so I’ve just finished catching up. This show is CRIMINALLY underseen. From what I can gather it was on some obscure streaming app that no longer exists, and S3 was picked up by Amazon. I don’t know if they have the first two seasons as well in US, but it is absolutely worth seeking out. It’s funny, but it also doesn’t shy away from the subject of substance abuse. Ron Livingston is just so good as a smart but cynical Gen Xer whose life fell apart due to alcoholism. Will Sasso is Will Sasso and who doesn’t love that? The sober living group are all great too.
Guys, someone watch this so I have people to talk about it with!

Finished Made For Love last night and I didn't love it but it was weird and interesting and I'm glad I watched it. There were some cool ideas and some not great ideas but at least it went for it.

My main issue was with the ending but I was assuming this was a contained 1 season show. If there's more then it makes sense why they did what they did with it.
