Okay, this was too good to not share. I am guessing there are some folks here who can relate! My favorite meme from this template, by far.

Finding out everyone played as a stealth archer in Elder Scrolls games blew my mind. Every time I tell myself I'm going to try it but the temptation to just go str+ str+ str+ and smack everything with a sword until it dies is too great. One time I built a mage but ended up mostly relying on companions and summons to just smack stuff until they died instead of finding interesting synergies.

Haha yeah, I always say I am going to be mage character and really dig into the magic end of stuff but either end up sneaky shooty guy or a smashy smashy guy.

Warhammer pure smash orc is still my favorite build.

A certain 9 yr old got Miitopia for his birthday weekend. He put my Mii in his caravan and I chose the characteristics Pop Star, Laid Back. This doesn’t look very laid back. He looks a little extra.  :D

Graphics look amazing. Why do I have a feeling this is a 3-6hr game.

I get that feeling too. Though I suppose the online component you could play forever. The way the characters clunked around the world gave me Resident Evil PTSD. It just does not look fun to control. But that is without me playing it at all, just an impression I am getting.

i get like a 3rd Person Left 4 Dead vibe. might be fun to play with like a group of 5 where one person plays as the demon.

Give me a well-designed, well-written 3-6 hour game over a 50 hour game with 10 hours of good material and 40 hours of fluff any day of the week. I never understood why games bragged about having 100 hours of playtime as if that was a good thing.

There were some really cool ass games shown over the last few days. Pandemic effects really showing up now. But man, I know I have said it before, Sony fan first and foremost but I gotta get me an Xbox. Game Pass is such a stupidly ridiculously obscenely good deal. There are so many good games on there and coming in the future. I don't quite know how Microsoft makes that work but damn, I gotta get on that train!

Yeah, I am a Sony guy, but I was mostly impressed by the Xbox stuff (it helps that Sony didn't have a presentation). But we are going to be feeling the pandemic slow down for a while to come. There were cool games shown, but not like how there usually is. On one hand, it is really giving me a chance to catch up on games, on the other hand, I want to see some PS5 God of War footage

I actually use the PC game pass a lot for RTS games. It’s an amazing deal. But I had to cancel it til I get a series X.

Well, I went and did it. I got an Xbox Series S. Happened to see they were available on Amazon and decided to pick one up. This will be my bridge into the next gen games until I can make the true leap with a PS5.....next year? Who knows. This is going to be a Game Pass machine though for sure. Supposed to be here on Sunday! Can't wait!

Also, minor nit pick but how is it 2021 and you still have to get batteries for the controller?? I know you can get the plug and play thing which I am totally doing but how is that not just built in like the PS controllers have been doing forever?

A lot of people love this cause it means you never get stuck in a situation where you have to plug the controller in and sit on the floor 2ft from the TV if its out of batteries, but I'm with you. The days of playing for 12 straight hours are long behind me and since I'm usually playing by myself I can just switch to the P2 controller if I forgot to charge it.

Okay, I guess I can see that. I also saved myself any hassle years ago and spent like $8 on Amazon for a 15ft USB cable. That 6ft cord they give you ain't good for nobody!

I watched credits roll on Life is Strange 2. Man, you can make that story go dark at the end. I kept thinking they'd funnel me back in some way with all my awful decisions, nope!

Going through the PS4 backlog and got to Uncharted 4. I like the story and it looks incredible, but I'm not sure I like actually playing it. I have trouble in a lot of set piece action games like this, new Tomb Raiders, a lot of GTA main story missions etc where you have to do specifically what the game wants you to and it's just supposed to flow. I keep ending up in chase sequences and not understanding which of the ledges I'm supposed to jump up to so I end up with this dramatic music playing and another character yelling at me about how dire this is while I'm sitting under a ledge doing the little feckless jump he does when you jump in the wrong place going "really? I can't grab onto that?". Then I die or restart and the camera has me pointed to exactly where to go and it's like oh. The shooting is fine but the enemies are very bullet sponge-y which doesn't feel great but at least there's ammo everywhere.

One thing that is very refreshing is since there is no upgrades or experience or anything other than some optional collectables and notes and whatnot with no gameplay implications, it's very nice to know that I'm not missing anything if I want to just enjoy the story and keep moving through the level without checking every corner of every room. I finally broke the habit of stopping every inch of walkable space I picked up playing God of War and RE Village.

I feel obligated to finish it at this point since I do like the story a lot and I'm only a handful of chapters from the end, but I kinda wish this game was like 12 or so hours rather than 30. The whole "the treasure is in there!" and then "it's not here but look, it's a map! to the treasure!" thing gets old after the like 9th location you murdered 80 people to get through.

Just found out CoD zombies is split screen. So me and my son will be on that for foreseeable future. PS versions if anyone’s down PM me your gamertag.

Wildermyth - This game is extremely cool. It's kind of like a D&D XCOM but with a bunch of other mechanics and differences that make it a lot more about role playing and seeing your characters in various comic strips for the story or mini events that pop up. It sounds simple but one of the coolest things about it is the way your characters evolve over the course of a campaign and how those changes are reflected in all of the art and story comics. There's a wide variety of equipment you get, and because there's so little managing of it, you don't think about it as over time you look at the comic and your warrior is 45 now and has a dope sword, some gold shoulder pad things and this sick belt you can see in every conversation they have. Your characters can also have kids who then join your party, retire, and a bunch of other stuff that really makes them feel like characters in a way something like XCOM never could. There are a ton of campaigns and I've only done the first one so far but it looks like you can have legacy characters so some of them can show up in spots in other campaigns. It's gonna be like that Hulk reveal in Thor 3 except its just me alone in my room losing my shit cause the hunter from my first campaign showed up in a tavern or something.

Binged the new Life is Strange over the past day.  Took about twelve hours from start to finish.  I enjoyed it quite a bit, mainly because I find Alex - the new protagonist - to be an excellent character, on par with Max in terms of personality, likability, and dialogue (just the right amount of cringe - but zero "hellas", unfortunately).  I might even like Alex a little better, in fact.

The story is decent, although similar to Life is Strange: Before the Storm the last chapter is a bit weak (it feels rushed overall and awkward at times) and boy did I see the big twist coming a mile away.  While the story definitely didn't grab me by the feels as much as the first one did, it still contains some outstanding moments that are mostly driven by Alex's power.

The power mechanic in this game works surprisingly well and leads to some heavy emotional story beats.  I could see how playing it through multiple times would be rewarding just for the sake of trying out some different choices.  That said, the choices in this game aren't nearly as consequential as they were in the first one.  Nothing that seismically shifts the story in one direction or another, anyway.

There's an entire LARP sequence in this game.  Your mileage may vary on that....

Oh, and it's very, very pretty.  Set in small-town Colorado, according to one of the characters when you move there you "automatically get an amazing beard, a pretentious knowledge of craft beers, and a Subaru."  Anyone who enjoyed the Arcadia Bay setting would likely find Haven Springs and its citizens to be just as charming.

I know it won't happen, and that's hella alright... but yeah, the boys would probably have a lot of fun with this one.

Arcane games are hit or miss for me but I definitely want to try this one out.

MLB The Show.. just got traded to the Angels :|
  • Been playing Control on game pass. Simple but punchy combat, great and weird visuals, and so far an engaging story. Would recommend. Only complaint so far is that the upgrade components only drop in some zones and enemies seem to appear randomly once you've cleared it so it's a pain trying to get them.

The combat and the overall story in that game are good but by far the best part is all of the notes and random things around the environment that flesh out the world and the random incidents. I usually never read that stuff in games but Control is on another level
