So I'm just getting to watch this. 5 mins in and I love that there was a way out, but he couldn't take it. That's a situation I'm sure he faced many times indies years as Saul and Jimmy. Love this show.
I think this was a pretty good episode, and a pretty smart way to walk back the Saul transition a bit. I liked that it wasn't just Kim asking him to come back, but actually going along with him and then making it clear that while she could do those kind of scams, it was a once in a while type of thing. Nice way to get Jimmy to understand that he doesn't have to be one or the other, but can be kind of both, in a way that fits the story and the point in his story arc.
I'm just about to start the episode...i have a feeling TWD is going to look all the worse this year when it's immediately followed the next night by BCS, with the Villigang at the height of its powers.
At $50 per shot, how much did Ken spend on that bottle of tequila?
Well it looked smaller than a 1/2 gallon of milk, probably a lot closer to a quart, 32 oz. 1 oz per shot (I think)--32 x $50= $1600. Does that sound about right?
Great show. But it seems the only reason he joined the firm was because of Kim? I don’t quite get it. Clearly as a relationship, it’s going nowhere, but Kim’s been a good friend to Saul, just about the only one he has. He’d be stupid to fuck it up, but something unfortunate is going to happen.
I loved the episode until he went to the law firm. We know it's going nowhere so I hope there is a pretty good payoff for why they are wasting time.
I gotta admit that I feel pretty bad for the dude that lost his baseball cards. I can't really have too many baseball cards now that I'm an adult, but I still indulge in a fresh pack here and there. I used to be all about my baseball cards as a teenager. Everyday I was talking about the new Donruss cards that I scored or hiding my new stack of rookie cards from my mom so she wouldn't throw them away. It's just never been the same since my best friend went to jail for having a felony amount of 1st editions. Sometimes you just grow out of things, but you never forget that first All-Star card.
I am almost as excited for the podcasts, both Jim & Aron and the Insider Cast, as I was for the show!

A typical bottle of booze is 750ML (or 25.36 oz), and a typical shot is 1 oz for a higher proof/much rare liquor. So a bottle would hold roughly 25 shots. If we assume the bottle was full, It would be $1,250 for 1 oz shots.
Season 1 was Jimmy being good for the sake of his brother. I wonder if Season 2 is going to be Jimmy trying to be good for the sake of Kim. It seems like so far, Jimmy's arc is about how to become his own man, but we know he gets pushed along and dominated by Walt at least through the end of Breaking Bad. I think this season is going to be good!
As a fan of story structure, I especially enjoyed the scenes that book-ended the show.
The title of the episode, The Switch, reflects two of the most meaningful scenes.
In the beginning, Gene, locked in a both a metaphorical and literal prison, cannot bring himself to open the emergency exit and trip the alarm. Despite being trapped, he knows the potential consequences, and he is terrified. Contrastingly, at the end of the episode, we see Jimmy, victorious and free, in his new office, and his confidence is soaring. He knowingly flips a switch despite uncertain consequences and clear warnings not to do so.
These scenes demonstrate how far Saul, or Gene, has fallen. As Gene, he has a fear of the known, and barely has the confidence to scratch his real name in fine print on the wall. In the other, he has no fear of the unknown, and demands Cocobolo. Great stuff.
Good, not great episode with some excellent elements. They are moving some pieces around right now, and I'm okay with that. Looking forward to next week!
I'm still trudging through season 5 of TWD, and it is painful.
Unlike Jimmy in this episode, I am justifying my continued viewing of TWD with the Sunk Cost Fallacy, which I think more accurately is termed as pot committed, but whatever.
Most of the time, I wanna pull the Blu-tooth BMW Bro-man and put a pillow over TWD's face until I hear the deathbed queef.
Am I the only one who wants to see more of Blu-tooh Bro-man? I re-watched that scene with CC on, and oh my god, his one liners were horrifying but hilarious.

TWD had BCS right after it this time last year too. Honestly, there's always a much better show on - the first half of TWD season 6 was opposite The Leftovers S2 (!!!), with Fargo on the next day.
Anyway, this was a "good but not great" episode, as others have been saying. Nice to see some Breaking Bad shout outs (Ken Wins! Zafiro Anejo!), and I don't really care how slow the road to Saul is as long as the quality stays the same, which I trust it will based on the Villigang's track record.
