how did you discover bald move

Really interested how you all discovered bald move so feel free to share your stories. Myself I was simply searching for a walking dead podcast and I listened to the season 5 episode 2 and at first I have to sadly admit I absolutely hated you guys i thought you where way too negative and I switched the podcast off. Then I went back and gave it another listen and the 2nd listen was for the season 5 finale. I then agreed with you guys somewhat and just found you interesting to listen to and since then i have listened weekly from the season 6 premier for twd and eventually I was interested in joining the club then started to listen to the lunches and now I'm here. But who knows if I didn't listen to the 516 podcast for twd I wouldn't be typing this and Jim and A.Ron should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved and i know they are :) keep up the good work guys. Just thought I would share my story

  • I wasn't into podcasts at all (for whatever reason), but heard about Kelly Dixon's Insider BCS Podcast (through some article online) and thought I should check it out.

I liked it and wondered if there was a similar Mad Men insider podcast. Turns out, there wasn't, but in my search I came across these two guys talking about 'The Weiner' and something called a 'Pete Pit'. They were hilarious and insightful.

It didn't take me long to start kicking myself when I realized they (Jim and Aron) had all along had been podcasting about TV shows I had been watching for the past couple of years.

I hopped on back in The Night's Watch day. I honestly think I was searching for TV podcasts that I could listen to. It was probably pretty high on the popularity list at the time--with maybe a Game of Thrones Afterbuzz and A Cast of Kings being some of the competitors. From there I hopped onto Breaking Good and the rest is history.

Got my first smartphone in 2011, then I discovered podcasts, then I discovered Breaking Bad, then I discovered Bald Move. I had just left a job that allowed me a lot of time during the day to have pop-culture conversations with a wide range of people, and I was missing having that in my life. Bald Move filled that void very nicely. This was back in the olden days, when BM was a part-time gig for the boys and it was a big deal that they got 200 likes on the Facebook page (which I don't even look at anymore. Seriously; who goes there instead of here?)

It's not often that I get in on the ground floor of something before it blows up. You name a popular show or band or movie franchise, and I probably didn't get into it until it had picked up some steam. Bald Move is just about the only thing that allows me the smug hipster-cred of being able to say I was there when they were literally just two guys farting around in their spare time.

I was looking for a good Walking Dead podcast 2+ years ago and stumbled across them. I've never looked back. In fact, they are the standard of quality that I look for in other podcasts. Nothing beats J&A though.

  • I never listened to a podcast that reviewed tv shows but I loved the first couple episodes of Westworld and since none of my friends wanted to watch it, I found a podcast that covered it. I ended up listening to all they had covered for that show and loved them so much that I researched who made it which lead to bald move. I signed up for their membership real quick for their original fees but upgraded once I heard about their termination with Amazon. I can't stop listening to their podcast for Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and American Horror Story. I will definitely take into account what they cover when I chose new shows to watch. Thank you Bald Move!

    High five, early adopters!

I think I did their first Australian iTunes review for Watching Dead. Yes, I'm that cool.

Edit: No, I didn't - a couple got in before me. DAMN IT.

  • I still think mine is the weirdest

I use to post on a Howard Stern message board. One day, a poster that I think called himself Aron Hubbard started posting about having this podcast for Season 4 of Breaking Bad. I figured I'd give it a shot, and I really enjoyed it. People were asking him questions and giving him accolades for the podcast, and Aron was very gracious and appreciative. Well, turns out that wasn't the real Aron. It was someone impersonating him and pretending that it was his show. I know this because they made it a point in one of the podcasts that there was someone impersonating him and doing a really good job of it. I remember Aron being really flattered that someone would try to impersonate him and do such a close imitation, and he even offered him a free t-shirt for getting his show out there. Everyone (including myself) on the board had our pitchforks ready to go, but he never showed again.

Now, was it actually Aron pretending to be himself and denying it later? Maybe. I have zero way of knowing with 100% certainty. The thing is, Aron admitted as much on the podcast. I can say that I have listened for long enough now to believe that he wouldn't lie about something so trivial, and at this point, it doesn't really matter. I listened to all the Breaking Bad casts, stayed for the Mad Men and GoT, and will continue to stay for Leftovers and more. Just remember, people. It aint always Tom Cruise and Taylor Swift that people will pretend to be online.

I had finally decided to give Breaking Bad a go shortly after it ended on TV, and after having sprinted through the first few seasons I felt like a needed an accompanying podcast to help me digest everything, so I searched on iTunes and Bald Move was the first I came across. The rest, as they say, is history!

Started listening to a lot of Breaking Bad casts and found Bald Move to be the best one.  Stuck with them for Mad Men and Walking Dead.  Loved what they were doing so much, decided to strike out and create my own podcast.  Been a great ride and has made the veritable shit show that is the modern internet a much more pleasant and fun place to be.

  • The first podcast that I ever listened to for a single tv show was a Justified podcast that Joanna Robinson and Ryan McGee used to have, but they had only done one season at the time. I was totally hooked on Justified and got totally hooked on in depth coverage through them so when I finished their cast I started a re-watch and randomly searched iTunes for Justified and came across Bald Move. They were (are, but past tense reflecting the perspective of me discovering them) just perfect for that kind of coverage. The easy flow of the conversation, the level of insight, and downright fun to consume factor of the whole thing got me totally hooked. I mean, I really think that Ryan and Joanna did a great job on their show, I liked it a lot, but Bald Move just blew them out of the water. When I finished the season that they initially covered I looked into their other shows and the rest is history.
  • Don't know why I looked for TV podcasts but I had recently started listening to podcasts back then. I found the Walking Dead podcast during season 2. Remember how they got the synopsis for several episodes including huge spoilers. Was interesting listening to it take it with a pinch of salt and then see it all come true. I have to shamefuly admit it took a while before I started paying my fair share after they started the club. But I will make up for it in due time when the money allows. I did contribute what I could during save bald move at least.
  • I think I complained to a friend about the quality of the TWD podcasts I was listening to (afterbuzz tv I think specifically, minimal offense intended) and he referred me to the bald move one. I liked it and it joined the stable but it wasn't until I realized they had a GoT cast (and I listened to it and Aron had such a solid grasp on the lore without being kind of annoying like Jo Robinson--also didn't carelessly spoil things) and I started listening to that one and liked them more. But I was really won over once and for all with the Leftovers season 2 podcast. Now, though, MY LIFE FOR YOU
  • I was also looking for a Justified podcast....

I was looking for a walking dead podcast that wasn't kissing the shows ass all the time and I stumbled across baldmove. I quickly became a subscriber because the guys were hilarious and didn't take everything so seriously. This was around season 2 of GoT and I started listening to the nights watch as well. This eventually lead to me listening to almost everything BM had to offer.

    Watching Dead shortly after they started it. My story is pretty much exactly the same as @OliviaD ;
I liked that Jim and A.Ron weren't afraid to be honest about a show's shortcomings. Funny enough, I don't watch TWD anymore, but I listen to 95% of other BM podcasts.

    .
  • A friend of mine told me she was starting a podcast for Gotham and Agents of Shield, neither of which I watch. I knew she was a fan of GoT so I asked if she would consider podcasting that show, and she said no because there was already a great podcast called Bald Move! So I looked them up, started listening, and I've been here ever since. Joined the club eventually (wish I'd done it sooner) and now I'm following along with Westworld and really enjoying it! I also spread the word to my husband and my best friend, both of whom now listen, and my friend even started watching Mr Robot so that she could have more Jim and A-Ron to listen to. I have listened to other GoT podcasts in addition to Bald Move over the past couple years (when I'm into something I tend to get REALLY into it), but never stuck with the other podcasts for more than a couple of episodes. Bald Move is simply the best, nothing else will do!

I remember this! What a weird thing. I honestly think that message boards do about as good as any at promoting podcasts. I remember pimping the guys a few years back on a comic book message board I frequent, and it seems like a good portion of the folks there started listening and enjoying.

  • I had been listening to another podcast for season 4 of Mad Men. When season 5 started that podcast didn't come back on so I went looking for another one and found Bald Move. I liked Jim & A.Ron's thoroughness and banter, reminded me of when my friends and I would talk about our favorite shows. Started listening to the Night's Watch and Breaking Good podcasts after that since I was also watching those shows as well. And the rest, as they say, is history!

@Frakkin T got me hooked on the guys during season 2 of the walking dead. I only listened to that... I wasn't into BrBa first time around, I started watching when the guys started their rewatch. (Was that summer 2014??) :)

  • It was word of mouth for me. A friend recommended it after he got me started on Game of Thrones.  Good thing too because I was struggling to follow all of the different factions, regions, families, and houses.  I think he just got tired of me asking questions every other minute of the show.

I heard Aron on the walking dead cast with Karen and Jason. At that time I was tired of their always happy kiss ass approach. I think this was during season 3, so I jumped on bald move. Soon after I discovered the nightswatch, Gotham, ahs, got, penny dreadful, westworld and now I'm an addict. I've also discovered other pods thru BM like project fandom, no ship network and unspoiled. Plus the BM forums are fab. Good honest conversation on tv and film. Gotta love it.

From the other "How did you get into Bald Move" thread:
I used to live next door to Jim, and liked to eavesdrop on his life
(thin walls). At first, I was like "good god, this dude and his friend
sure do love talking about TV", but eventually I picked up that they
were recording podcasts. Next thing you know, I took a job in Texas and
had to resort to listening to my favorite strangers on Itunes. The sound
quality is much much better, but the content isn't nearly as salacious.
On a related note, my current neighbors are professional crooners. Talk
    about a fucking snooze fest.

Totally at random heard an episode of Bald Move's True Blood podcast. Thought, wow, they think it sucks even more than I do!

  • I don't even remember how I got into BM. I think I was looking for GoT podcasts and stumbled upon them. Eventually I started to add more and more and finally decided to join the club. Now BM is one of the 1st (of not the 1st) suggestions I make for those looking for podcasts on shows. There are some others I listen to that make me appreciate how well done everyone gets things done here.

  • GoT, been hooked for the last year solid!

  • I was looking for some commentary on Pulp Fiction, googled "pulp fiction podcast" and Bald Move popped up. It was J&A Bald Movies
And I've been hooked ever since.
  • GoT S6!

I didn't really listen to tv/movie podcasts before this year. A friend sent me a link to a different one to check out--it was alright, but it got me curious about what else was out there. BM popped up when I searched Stitcher and I liked it right away. Then I dug thru the website and discovered they loved Leftovers S2 as much as I did, and I knew I found my kind of people.
