    The Past, The Present, and the future......I'm going to watch again, but really enjoyed this episode. It caught us up without spending too much time and set up this final season. Interesting that Nota chose Sarah for a name (biblical sense). Looking forward to the rest of the season.

    In the cold I open, I went from thinking she was going to be right, to thinking she was going to be hit by lightening, to both, and then to realizing that nothing was going to happen.

    If there is anybody that needed to get got, it's the GR. Poor Evangeline.
    Did Meg know it was coming?
    Did Kevin call in an air strike? The ATFC offered Kevin a solution to his GR problem, back in season 1. Did we finally see what they had in mind? Have they been doing missle strikes all over the country?
    In season 1, Kevin said no to their solution. Perhaps they require ascent of local law enforcement. That suggest Kevin called and asked for a missle strike in Jarden, or was a complicit bystander.... Dark.
    Kevin is done-zo with the Guilty Remnant.

    Kevin has his first three followers. They all seem pretty wise too.

    I was convinced the lady at the end was going to be the one from the beginning but she probably died of pneumonia.

    Instead, we got a good old fashioned flash forward. Why doesn't she want to be associated with Kevin? Is she his downfall?

    Wow. That was wonderful, and it's definitely the most I've ever laughed at The Leftovers. Could have done without the WTFery at the end, though. Not a fan of that, especially when there is so much to absorb.

    She isn't a believer but sticks with him. I think Kevin will sacrifice himself to save the world and she will be left alone, angry and not want to be associated with the book of Kevin.

    Favorite show going, even when it doesn't make any sense whatsoever.  Words can't express how deeply I enjoy the emotional turbulence of every episode.  The first 15 minutes or so took me about 30 minutes to watch as I kept putting it back to catch up with all the characters' new status quo and playing back the dialog.  Did anyone else find Kevin's "morning routine" to be really difficult to watch?  Someone just please give this man an Emmy before he hurts himself.

    On a side note, I thought it was pretty funny how the Guilty Remnant and whatever inane, unspoken "message" they were trying to communicate had been basically forgotten in this world.  I kind of hope they don't show up at all this season.

    What a great opener. Gratified to see them call back to the Babylon stuff with another prophecy interpreted by Daniel, the holy spirit descending and the heavens opening up to Kevin motifs, I love the biblical stuff. Loved the cold open involving on of the many millennial cults that spring up in the 19th century, and the crazy ass end with Nora hauling pigeons.

    Lindelof is ALL IN. This was funny, and tragic stuff. I couldn't believe how funny some of this was. Everything seems to follow logically I from the stakes set in last season, including the Feds nuking the GR from orbit. I would balk a bit at John ultimately converting to the woo woo side except, well, Evie did do this before, and hell, they got Jim too, so fuck it.

    Wtf happened to the baby? Did the mom comeback with regret of abandoning her baby? Or, my theory, Johns wife who isnt there took her when evie died. Shit, or did the baby die in some accident that resulted in noras broken arm?

    Man this show is just so good. My favorite part of the episode is when Dean is talking about testing the sandwich and the heavy music is playing and then stops as soon as he says "K9 DNA". This show just hits on everything. I'll have to watch this episode again. Did anyone catch what happened to Nora and Kevin's baby? Seems like something tragic happened.

    Wouldn't it be just like this show for Oct 14 to just pass by and nothing happens? Lol.

    God damn I love this show. Pun intended. There was so much to like about this episode but my favorite scene, as twisted as this is going to sound, was Kevin attempting to suffocate himself after Sara left. Up to this point we were to believe Kevin was living a much happier, healthier life then the three years prior to this point...He has good relationships with both Tom and Jill, still in a relationship with Nora, on good terms with Laurey, and is now chief of police in Miracle. We're to believe Kevin had turned the corner and the demons are gone but Lindelof through the most perfect twisted curveball. Watching this scene unfold made me realize why I love this show so much.. It went from uplifting to tragic, to depressing, but to beautiful again in the only weird way the leftovers could do it. Well done Lindelof.

    If the rest of the season is as solid as this episode oh boy. That end scene makes me think Kevin might not make it through though. Perhaps he will indeed die for the sins of the world as new Jesus? And then Lindelof just leaves it up to the audience if he was actually holy or just a coincidence. It would be ironic if Kevin somehow inspired a new religious cult after his troubles with the GR.

    The Australia scene at the end is not a flash forward. It is the present time, with the real Nora.

    The Nora we see with Kevin is actually a dog imposter.

    This is obviously the latest step in the dogs' plan of world domination, getting in close with the Holy Kevin.

    I mean fuck it I guess I'll just call Season predictions right now because why not, probably wrong but that's part of the fun I guess.
    End of series Prediction: unnatural rainstorms cause people to believe world is ending, Kevin decided to actually die to save the world, rains stop, Lindelof leaves it up to the audience to decide if it was a freak rainstorm due to climate change probably or if Kevin is literally new world Jesus who died to save humanity again.

    I cried, laughed out loud, gasped, and shouted at the screen in anger.  The Leftovers is back.

    Did anybody else read the baptism scene as potentially really dark? If Kevin can't die in Miracle, then the poisoned water would have no effect on him.  Not the case for everybody else that goes in to be baptized.  The GR supporters were dead silent, which suggests that it probably was a prank.  But maybe they're silent because this guy just waltzed around a poisoned creek like it's nothing.

    Edit - Michael was in the water with him.  Dumb theory is dumb.

    Everyone is talking about Kevin as Jesus, which seems a little on the nose, but I don't see much talk about how his children will factor in this season.

    So many Biblical ways to go with this one. Could Kevin be the classical biblical father figure, rather than the Jesus/Son of God figure?

    A couple possible parallels: Kevin as Abraham sacrificing Isaac, or simply God "The Father" sacrificing his son Jesus for some sort of community/world saving event? Or maybe they invert it gender wise and have Kevin sacrifice his daughter? Think of how a decision like that would effect his relationship with Nora/Sarah! SO many interesting ways this could go.

    Theory: in the opening scenes, were we seeing the original GR's? There must have been a departure in the 1830s/1840s, and the leftovers were standing on that roof trying to be taken as well. Then we see them all in white robes/nightgowns sleeping on the floor of the church. So then when the second departure occurred 7 years ago (in show time), the GR's formed either in tribute to the GR's from 1844, or by strange coincidence, in the same way, in their own little cult group, wearing all white. Might be a stretch but it makes sense to me.

    Btw, did I miss something? What happened to Erica?

    Only things that didn't work for me was the uber dramatic ending and the fact that John is a believer while being a total fraud reading people's palms.....???  They need to explain the massive character shift he's had or that's gunna gnaw on me. But everything, else, fucking fantastic, everything and more i could have imagined. Looking forward to what will be revealed. I am ancy to get to Australia....FUCK DONT LET ME DOWN LEFTOVERS.

    Also, CAN'T wait to see what delicious opening credits we will get next week :D

    The opening scene is a reference to the real world millerites, which are the precursor to seventh day Adventists. Even the pastor was cast to look like William Miller.
