    Wow.....I guess this Kevin Sr. epidose connected ;) hopefully people don't get caught up in its focus. The ending hit HOME for me. Excellent epsidoe, looking forward to the cast for this one.

    I absolutely fucking love this show. From the previews of this season I was curious as to how they would continue to walk the line of is it supernatural or is it not. Every week they pull it off no matter how crazy the storyline.
    I love that this show is a deep dive into how and why people turn to religion in times of personal crisis. How belief is a fundamental part of the human psyche, coupled with the need to search for meaning and purpose. They are doing a great job of letting it all play out. And I feel we're in for a wonderfully ambiguous ending very Life of Pi in that it will ask which story do you believe. The story of Kevin and that this is all a part of God's plan, or the story of Nora perhaps and this means nothing there is no plan things just happen.

    Man if you'd told me in advance I'd be this affected by a Kevin Sr exclusive I'd have told you to go fuck yourself, but damn if that ending didn't kick me right in the teeth--again! They really seem to be able to do no wrong right now.

    I didn't know what to think of this episode throughout most of it and then the last 10 minutes happened. It was so beautiful and powerful and it reminded me why I love this show so much.

    Is it safe to assume that we getting a subliminal message that Matt's cancer is back? The nose bleed last episode and chills from this episode tell me that his leukemia may have come back. How very Job of him!

    yeah. For the first 40 minutes I was all "this isn't doing it for me." And then the last ten minutes happen and Im amazed.


    It is also an interesting negative of the Nora Kevin story. Nora and Kevin are messed up keep each other grounded because they each call BS on each other's delusions (Nora's guilt and Kevin's delusions). This one you have two messed up people who make each other exponentially crazier.

    Also I was riveted by Grace's story from the get go. I'd make a terrible judge or juror as I think I'd be like, ahh it's ok sweetie. It was just one Kevin and he was kind of a jerk about the whole thing!

    Yeah he was a jerk and the world is ending in a few days anyway; no harm, no foul I say.

    I thought this episode was going to be a bit of a stinker that really had me worried about the direction that the show is moving towards, but the last few minutes saved it magnificently (the episode anyway, I'm still slightly concerned about the series finale).

    I'm glad everyone enjoyed it, but I struggled through this entire episode. I never thought it would end.

    This was a massive mess of an episode for me. Waste of an entire episode in a short season.

    If this wins the week I will call out our boys as leftover homers.

    This show is great, but they shit the bed with this episode. I'm glad I watched American gods first.

    I'm sure it will end great, but this was a misstep in a very short season. I just don't care about this crazy lady & what she did.

    I felt that way until the end...the dots needed to be connected and we all knew that it had to come together, so we were all expecting it so it would have been really easy to make a predictable scene fall flat but instead it saved the episode (IMO anyway!).  I feel you though, overall this wasn't a great episode.

    I just hope we are donzo with the spotlight episodes. They are running out of time & I felt like we tread a LOT of water in this one.

    I'm still def on the show, but this wasn't their best effort. Fargo, bcsaul & even the flash was better than this imo.

    I know, heresy in bald move land, but I really didn't like this one.

    I'll be interested to see what the guys think.

    I'm in a cranky TV mood this week. I'm not a big fan of this character and found myself on my phone 30 minutes in. It's not even boredom -- I can't stand these guys who think the world revolves around them, who think their story is the most important, who think they're the hero, the one who's got it all figured out. 

    In The Expanse, the incident where Detective Miller shot someone (beginning of season 2, being vague to avoid spoilers) royally pissed me off in much the same way this episode of The Leftovers aggravated me. It's the same mindset. He's the hero, he has it figured out, everyone else be damned. 

    Kevin Sr. won't kill a baby to cure cancer? Well fuck you, Kevin Sr. 

    I don't know why this gets to me so much... Maybe just too much of it at once. It's not endearing and it's not a good way to live.

    I had a theory occur to me (I'm sure it's all over Reddit) that the world won't end but will rather be saved by all of the Departures appearing with no memory of the 7 years having passed, like some freaky time travel incident. The irony is, of course, that this will just fuck everything up more.

    Alternate title for this episode, -  "You Think You're Having A Bad Day?"   or maybe.... 
    "We Didn't land on Kevin Sr., Kevin Sr. Landed on Us!"


    From beginning to end, that was an incredible episode of television. Laughed out loud at Tony the chicken and the tears welled when the Max Richtor score kicked it (glad it's back btw). Guess I am in the minority here, reading the comments, but this was my favorite episode of the season thus far. Feels good to finally be getting to Australia, it's where this whole journey has been heading for a while. The acting from Kevin Sr. was just magnificent, glad that actor got to break out the chops before the season closes. Hope you guys are ready to delve into Aboriginal mythology because OOOhhh shit, this episode was rife with it! Actually the blending of Christian an Aboriginal folklore was pretty amazing...this show man.

    Have you seen This weeks episodes of Fargo and BCS in advance? (Putting Flash in that list is sacrilidge and I used to be a steady watcher of that show). for me calling a win this early would be crazy, because if BCS and Fargo are poor episodes, you've just painted yourself into a corner. As far as spotlight episodes go, as long as they fit into the the main line I don't care. Also, there is nothing wrong with not liking an episode ;) although planned to face rebuttals :p I can understand people getting fidgety since we are getting close to the end, but relax and enjoy the ride mannnnnnnnn

    Jesus, Scott Glenn is a fucking brilliant actor.  I thought this episode was great. I'm not usually a fan of bottle episodes but this one hit all the marks, especially at the end. 

    It also seemed very Lost to me - this is a good thing, as I loved Lost and absolutely love Lindelof's vision.  I could easily see John Locke in this episode in place of Kevin Sr.

    I'm surprised so many people are down on this episode. Sure it was a bit weird and obscure at times, but so are most episodes and that is part of the point.

    I thought this was the best episode of the season so far. Kevin Sr. is a fascinating character. I think he is much more interesting because of his quirkyness and unpredictability than any other character besides Kevin Jr. This episode made me laugh, cry, jump for joy and feel tons of other emotions.

    It's going to be really hard for the other two shows to beat it this week. This is how to write a tv show. Can they help out the walking dead please.

    It did - and that's what worries me.  I loved LOST but it ended poorly, with this show coming to an end I don't really want to be reminded of LOST.

    I don't know why this gets to me so much... Maybe just too much of it at once. It's not endearing and it's not a good way to live.
    I just finished this episode, so this is just my hot take, but I thought it was at least in part a sendup of the white savior narrative. I mean, it's right there in the title, right? Kevin, Sr. thinks that he is the savior of all humankind, but he screws up everything along the way. He trespasses on sacred Aboriginal land. He steals the songs of Aboriginal people. He kills one of the elders. He fails to save someone he clearly should save. He attempts and fails to kill the animal that supposedly is his totem, and then his "totem" attacks him.

    Now, there do seem to be some interesting connecting dots. Was Kevin, Sr. referring to what Kevin, Jr. saw on the television in "International Assassin"? He may have had a vision of Grace's children building an ark. (And yes, I do think there will be some type of flood.)

    I wasn't exactly jazzed at the prospect of this episode, but it did get to me in the end. Lindsay Duncan was incredible as Grace. This episode was so much about the stories we tell to ourselves, to others, and the search for meaning and purpose in a fucked up world. It's in third place for this season so far, but it was still a damn fine hour of television.

    Great episode a lot of biblical like tests for Kevin Sr as previously mentioned Moses, Abraham, Noah. So many laugh out loud moments. Kevin Jr is a part of Kevin Sr's story damn it. Hahaha. And blowing up the whole white savior myth - such a brilliant episode.

    But this isn't Lost - and that's what needs to be remembered.  Lindelof has perfected the art of storytelling.  I trust this journey he's taking us on.

    I didn't think I'd like this episode but I did. I found it really funny - the chicken part of Kevins snr 
    story was hilarious.

    Ended off with some great acting.
