I'm surprised by how many people enjoyed this. I thought it fell flat. Some of the decisions some characters made, the jumps in logic...I just can't get over the clunky writing.
So I get one line from Chandra about her breakup, and that's supposed to justify her deciding to go in for a kiss with an inmate in an obviously monitored cell and smuggling drugs into prison?
Freddie having the knowledge of the case to send the footage of Chandra to Stone?
The overwritten hearse driver implicating himself at every turn.
It was a decent show. The acting and cinematography were both great...but the writing man. I just can't get over some of it.
Somehow the show felt rushed in the first and final episodes, and it felt like a slog all through the middle, IMO. It started as a thrilling procedural and turned into a look at the system, then a look at the people and how their lives are changed by one night. The dialogue in court was so unbelievable to me with how snappy and chatty the back and forth was during questioning. I'm not sure they knew what they really wanted this show to be.
Perhaps I'm holding it to too high a standard, but I'm only expecting out of it he same quality and believability as I got in episode one. -

I think we all need to address Elliot sifting through his vomit to eat what was left of those Adderall pills.
Sam Esmail might legit be a genius. And props to USA for letting him do whatever the **** he wants this season. Riveting television.
Rami Malek is so so good.
Did not know he had it in him when I first saw him playing a gay boy on The War at Home with Michael Rapaport.
