  • 305 - Chicanery

To go old school, Chuck's meltdown on the stand was very close to Captain Queeg's testimony in the Caine Mutiny.  Except that Chuck was right about Jimmy and Queeg was simply paranoid about the strawberryies.  Either way, both brought down by unhinged obesessions.

  • 302 - Don't Be Ridiculous

After Nora had her problems with touchscreen and the parking gate, I thought it was related to her problem with the electronic door sensor at the convenience store.  I then remembered that the door sensor happened to her character in Fargo last week.  Is that purely a coincidence?  Has to be.

Did anyone else have that crossover reaction when watching?

  • DAN CARLIN ALERT!! King of Kings part III

For those that want to go deeper, there is "Judgement at Nineveh" in the Hardcore History catalog.  In that episode, Carlin discusses the Assyrian Empire and its eventual fall to forces that included the Persians.  By Carlin standards it is brief, clocking in at just over one hour.

One more thing about Care & Dracula. Assuming there is a connection, it lends more motive to Clare's killing of Van Helsing.

  • Penny Dreadful 303: Good and Evil Braided Be

There is another Clare/Dracula connection.  The fight with the Vampire and the death of Mina at the end of Season 1, occurs at the theater where John Clare worked.

I always thought it strange that a character like John Clare who was always moving around the theater's backstage would not have noticed a vampire nest.  Or was he aware and this information was not shared with the viewer.  A final possibility is that the vampire went there with Mina immediately after Clare was fired, just in time for Vanessa to do her echo locate of where they were.  However, the timing of that sequence seems very unlikely.

To me this suggests that whatever connection Clare had with Dracula in life has continued in some form after his death.
