  • Making A Murderer - Season 2

We watched the first two last night. Uh.. "brain fingerprinting"? What the fuck is this bullshit?

I did a little poking around. The guy who conducts the test with Avery is Dr. Larry Farwell - the inventor of Brain Fingerprinting. Only Dr. Farwell and his company are permitted to conduct this testing. In studies published by Dr. Farwell, he routinely cites twice as many participants than actually participated. Each person is usually tested twice once as a guilty or knowing individual and once as an innocent or unknowing individual. Dr. Farwell counts each test as a separate participant, presumably to inflate his N for the study.

Dr. Farwell published a review of his own studies in 2012. The link below is a published response/comment on this review.

I'm more swayed by Ms. Zellner's assessment of Avery's innocence than by the results of this "fingerprint".

It's been made explicit many times in these forums. The position is "I don't care what happens to anyone else as long as I get what I want."

If a Republican voter is not personally paying the price then the cost doesn't exist.

While I was in the US last week, more than one colleague explained the difference between Republicans and Democrats to me. These sentiments were expressed to me sincerely by people who are basically intelligent, capable, and not obviously (to me) racist.

Republicans are too busy working actual jobs to go out and protest. Democrats show up to protest because they have nothing better to do since they're all unemployed and living off the government.

Republicans give a "hand up" to industrious hard-working people. Democrats give a "hand out" to people too lazy to work for a living or get a better job.

Illegal migrants are sucking social security dry. When our cab driver (thankfully) pointed out you can't collect social security without a SSN, it became the children of illegal migrants (who are citizens) who are ruining social security.

I didn't understand that health care was better before Obama because I wasn't grasping that they had a "FREE MARKET SYSTEM". Everything would be fixed if people could buy health care from out of state, thus providing more competition and allowing the free market to work.

Plus many other offhand comments that I had to bite my tongue over. It was eye-opening to hear this stuff from people I considered very competent professionally. One woman is from Oklahoma and her children are black. She still supports Trump. The only explanation I can offer is that she truly believes there's nothing worse than a Democrat.

Lindsay Graham needs to update his talking points. You can’t just continue to repeat what you were saying yesterday.
Well he did threaten to make up accusations against any future democratic judicial nominees. So that's new.

I don't think my excitement for Red Dead 2 can get any higher. They recently demoed it for a bunch of outlets and I've been listening/reading as many as I can. This game sounds stupid good. There is a podcast called Red Dead Radio and the episode from September 20th got me hyped than anything.

Also, it was discovered via box art that you need 105gb free on PS4. That's pretty crazy.
How do you get more space for ps4? are there dedicated external hard drives specifically for ps4?
It's not terribly complicated to replace the HDD on a PS4 with a bigger one. Mine came with a 500GB spinner and I replaced it with a 1TB SSD this year. It can be done without breaking the warranty seal.

“They just keep saying ‘He was in high school—boys will be boys,’” says Maurielle, a 17-year-old from Houston. “But I’m in high school—I don’t want that to happen to me.”
This is exactly where I keep ending up on this. We all pay lip service to educating young people about consent and changing the culture that teaches young men that "no means keep trying." Social conservatives are so focused on Roe that they are willing to send teen boys the message that sexual assault isn't a big deal and tell teen girls they're disposable.

There are plenty of regressive assholes dying to overturn Roe who will gladly "answer Trump's call." This is yet another example of wanting to win at all costs - as long as someone else pays the bill. We've seen plenty of examples in this very forum of this attitude and I think it's bullshit. It should matter how you get what you want and the price matters even if you're not the one to pay it.
