  • The Last Jedi (Spoilers Section)

I also wanted to add that Leia flying through space really took me out of the movie. If Jedis have had this ability all along, they’re idiots for not using it to sneak on to the Death Star or imperial destroyers.

I was very underwhelmed and extremely disappointed. That being said, it’s not terrible, but comes nowhere near being in the same ballpark of The Force Awakens or Rogue One. There were about 3-4 times in this movie that I fear I may have audibly groaned. I hate to speak ill of a dead person, but there is way too much Carrie Fisher in this movie. She just wasn’t a good actor. I felt the scenes with her in The Force Awakens were the worst part of that movie and we get way more of that in The Last Jedi than I bargained for. The CGI was also surprisingly bad at points. Anytime someone or something was riding on top of something it looked very fake and Poe sliding into the trench towards the end was one of the most obvious uses of green screen that I have seen in recent years. None of the CGI creatures looked like they were actually living in the world on screen to me.
I think there were some good plot points, but how they arrived at those plot points felt very clumsy. I also fear that the plot for Episode 9 is going to be pretty obvious now. I really liked everything with Luke, Rey and Kylo and really disliked everything with Leia, Fin and Poe. It’s a mediocre movie that left me with an incredibly disappointed feeling as I walked out.
