I would love to join! However, I must fully disclose that I am halfway through and lack any willpower at all to stop myself from being a glutton and finishing the whole thing in the next day. This is the story of my life, I wait for ages for something and then can't stop myself. And this one is really good!
I was born and raised in Northern Idaho and tent camping was something we did almost every weekend. As an adult I moved to Iowa (tent camping in this state is abysmal. Humid, hot, no public land that has privacy) and I try to go home to Idaho/Montana for vacations during the summer to camp. Recently my camping partner backed out on me at the last minute and I decided to tent camp solo in Montana-just to see if I could. Best decision ever! I spent 5 days alone (with my two labs) and it was a glorious 5 days! No other humans nearby and in a gorgeous setting. I read a lot, hiked, and just enjoyed my thoughts, the scenery, and the sounds of nature. I think everyone should give it a try! There is something so cathartic about mountain air and complete lack of internet/phone service. As far as must haves: bug spray, sun block, water, books, and as someone else mentioned-a check in person who knows where you are.
