As all die-hard Star Trek Next Gen fans know, in addition to being Father's Day, today is also Captain Picard Day...Just a refresher for those who don't know, June 16th was chosen due to it's equivalent to Stardate 47457.1 referenced in the 7th season episode 'Pegasus" - Patrick Stewart's Picard has always been a 'Father Figure' for me...And I believe for @A_Ron_Hubbard. I thought we should give him a "shout out"....Here's a video clip for nostalgia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiKwAS1qaCk
As a psychotherapist and certified sex therapist, I can tell you that there are deep seated reasons why some folks are severely 'triggered' by the idea of same-gender relationships. Let's say you've had erotic fantasies or attractions (even fleeting) towards the same gender at some point in your life. Add to that the shame and judgement you learned as a result of long-time religious dogma. What do you get? Homophobia. I have a great deal of empathy towards folks who are locked in a prison such as this. That said, thank you @A_Ron_Hubbard @Jim @Cecily for modeling healthy tolerance of difference...It's folks like you who make the world a better place.
I really loved Season 2 of Discovery - I'm a huge Star Trek fan and for the life of me I can't understand the severe skepticism from so many about this show. Sure you can find faults with the drama or the sketchy tech or the plot holes. But at the end of the day, my world is a better place knowing there's some Trek in it. Loved the finale. Can't wait to see the new Picard series. I hope Jim and A-Ron will cover it. I think it is an imperative considering that 'Bald Move' is his namesake.
Just have to say A.Ron doing the Ashford speech impersonation about completely mundane shit might be the hardest I laughed all week.
