I love that Piper is trying to be "gangsta" and everyone else is like "Who are you? You aren't shit."

Alex is slowly redeeming herself the further away she gets from Piper.

Brooke can go from being the most annoying and privileged character to the best thing ever in one scene. That boombox moment was great.

That Morello visitation was...hot. Was expecting Gloria to have a "I'll have what she's having" moment one table over.

    JUDY KING!!!

    Loving the first three eps!

Thought I would hate Judy King but so far she's been a really interesting character, a refreshing addition to the dynamic.

I'm enjoying Piper much more so far, because her annoying nature is so much more tongue in cheek from the writers, and her new cell mate/muscle is great too!

A few little seeds were planted early on about the back stories for both Crazy Eyes (we didn't get the full story in previous in seasons did we?) and her even crazier 'girlfriend', with Caputo looking at her file and being surprised by something. Hope they expand on both.

I'm also worried about Pensatucky, she seems (quite rightly) like a completely different person since her experience with the rapist guard, and it was kind of painful to watch her show care for the girl (sorry, terrible with most names!) who took her job only to be shot down.

Well I have found Piper to just be awful so far this season. At least she is only in about 10% of the story this season.

My favorite thing is that new huge prison guard. That scene where he is talking to the new prison guards in front of the cabin and begins to "break the ice" was hilarious. The guy is so fucking intimidating.

By the way, when the Asian girl (I forget her name) is at the pedophiles house and he hands her the newspaper, you should pause it and read the article, its pretty funny.

Been liking Judy King a lot.

But can someone tell me why No one has reported the prison guard missing??! Why are they not looking for him? Could someone please help me understand this? Wouldn't Alex's former drug boss expect to see him again?

I was thinking he stole the uniform or something ? And not s registered guard therefore no one will be looking for him

  • Won't put spoilers past episode 3 as I'm on episode 7 but really great season so far can feel it's building to something quite big. I like how with the addition of the new inmates we aren't having them as actual characters and having to learn 10+ new characters we have had one or 2 with names but I'm glad we don't have to learn loads of new characters story's and names with this new lot of inmates, nice job writers. This has done what they intended to do with these new inmates which is make the prison feel crowded and as a result have a lack of supplies. I'm interested to see how this goes forward

  • Incase you guys are not aware I think the show had been renewed up to season 6 or 7 so plenty to go :). I would love a 2 hour film at some point but not In place of a season

  • It's been an okay start to this season.  By the standards they've set, nothing special, nothing bad.  They have such a huge ensemble cast which seems to be getting bigger.  The one liners have been very good in the first three episodes.  I've enjoyed Tastey the Receptionist, the dead guard's body storyline, one of the funniest sex scenes I've seen, Caputo trying to grow into his management role and the story of housing virtually on the site is interesting.  I've not enjoyed any of the Piper storyline (I don't seem to be a lone voice here), the Dominican revolution nor the Sam and Red continuation.  As an aside, I need to re-watch Soso from the past episodes, she seemed to me to have a completely different voice, pitch and mannersism to the previous episodes.  Anyway, looking forward to A Ron and Cecily's views

Lori Petty is such a talented actress. There is so much physical acting with the Lolly character, and she pulls it off so effortlessly and convincingly.

Liking the Red and Judy interaction. Judy, being a new inmate, should be intimidated by Red but stood up to her like a boss.

Piper isn't irritating me as much this season, maybe because her new roomie/'secret service' keeps pulling her back down a peg and putting her back in her place. It's so satisfying to watch.

You know who *is* irritating me? Morello. Btw, just exactly how young is this dude she married??

Really feeling horrible for Pennsatucky. It's heartbreaking to watch her slowly crumble. Hoping that guard (can't remember his name) gets what's coming to him.

    Not a fan of Piscatella.

I used to love Morello but after she had her husband beat up Christopher I've really gone off her.

I've also never disliked Piper until now - I know I'm in the minority there. She's an idiot, but I kind of related because I felt like I'd be just as big an idiot in that environment. This year though - ugh. I hope she comes a cropper.

Soso continues to be the worst person ever, and Alex's eyebrows continue to give me the heebie jeebies.

  • @Dee, those eyebrows really stood out to me this season.

He went missing on the same day the other guards walked out, so I guess they thought he quit too. He was a new hire so no one knew him, so wouldn't know where to check on him even if they wanted to. I would imagine the drug boss will at some point wonder where he is though. The staged pictures of Alex will buy a bit of time though.
  • @Dee & @NikkiP, my podcast notes read as follows:  Vause's eyebrows remind me a Bitmoji.

  • OitNB has had some of the best mic-drop moments at the ends of episodes--"We're gonna have to kill her." That lady is like the female Litchfield version of Mike Ermantraut.

I have felt exactly the opposite way about both Piper and Lori Petty; Piper immediately irritated the crap out of me with her huge head, and Petty is putting on so much effort to seem weird that I can't always see past it. Completely agree about Morello, though, and I would've went ape shit on those two if I'd been in that room with my child...

Frieda is fast becoming one of my favourite characters.

Really enjoyed the first three episodes. Lot of laughs and tension building re: over-crowding, etc.

    PS:

    @A_Ron_Hubbard

"Marzipan" (which makes me laugh out loud each time) is Maritza, not Marissa
