I guess Piper's attempt to rebrand herself didn't go too well. ;)

On a more serious note, that scene made me feel physically sick. Piper may have done a lot of things wrong, and may be a shitty person, but she didn't deserve that.

Oh and #FucKaputo. He doesn't care. An innocent woman could have been shot, but he only cares about getting his rocks off with his crazy girlfriend.
  • WOW I could barely watch the scene with piper being burned, one of those scenes where you wanted someone to walk in. Piper is still my 2nd favourite character behind Nicky. Glad Nicky is properly back too. Onto episode 8 now !

@Nathan I felt the same way. That was hard to watch, and I'm not really much of a Piper fan, although I do think she's been more tolerable this season. She just got too full of herself and screwed over the wrong people. Still, eesh. :(
  • The scene when Piper was branded horrified me.

I'm glad Piper was knocked down off her high horse a little but I sure didn't want that. I guess just like Maria's sentence being extended, she expected retribution but not to that extreme.

  • Yeah, I wanted her to get comeuppance but the degree (no pun intended) of retribution challenged my feelings, which is especially effective since I've never liked Piper. On the one hand she is very much responsible for fanning the flames of Aryan hatred and gelling that hate group together. On the other hand, cruel and unusual punishment. The show did a good job with making me feel conflict in my thoughts about that punishment. I think it played into a strong theme this season of what is the purpose of prison in America? Is it rehabilitation or just punishment, and why do we feel the way we do about what is acceptable for prisoners to experience just because they have broken a law?

Ack, this show just messes so much with my emotions. You feel like nothing much is happening and you're just happily watching these whacky antics and then it's drama central and tears all over the place.

The guard who didn't even realise he had raped Pennsatucky was such a good comment on what's going on these days. And the fact that she actually thinks it's okay now is heartbreaking - is her need for companionship so great? I get why Boo was angry but she's taking it out on the wrong person.

I have zero sympathy for Piper getting branded. You lay with dogs, you get up with fleas. She started a bloody white power movement! Okay, she didn't mean it, but that's the lesson.

Healy continues to fascinate me. I could just watch a whole series about him and his backstory, and I love his rapport with Lolly and how he seems to be trying to help her in lieu of being able to help his mum.

One thing that's kind of annoying me is why so many of the guards have to be so awful in this season. I feel like other than Pornstache they were much more like regular people than cartoon villains in earlier seasons.

I've enjoyed the first two podcasts for this season but I do wish @A_Ron_Hubbard or whoever is co-hosting would do a quick recap of the plot highlights just to help people like myself who binged the show when it was first released.
