"Westworld" Park, R&D arm of Man in Black's foundation?

edited November 2016 in Westworld
One point from the latest episode (5), on a theory for why they have switched from mechanical hosts to a physiology that is human: It's possibly it is because this ties into how the outside world has "cured diseases" and all but eliminated death; 3D-printing and fabrication of human organs is a central piece of how human medical treatment has evolved in this semi-distant time period. If it is a common enough practice that average humans are having transplants from synthetic organs, there may be an economies of scale economic argument for why this is cost effective.

Further, at some point another guest approaches the Man in Black and talks about how ~"his foundation saved his sister's life." It got wheels turning in my mind that perhaps the MiB's foundation is a part of this approach of taking what the Park does for Hosts and applying it for humans, and he leverages his stake in the Park to use it for something good.

Is it possible the "ulterior motive" of the Board is that the Park is it's R&D arm it uses for medical research?

What do you guys think? Not trying to be too crack-pot-y here, but the "foundation" thing didn't seem like something random, I expect to hear about it again and I feel like something along the lines of what I've suggested is in play. Not sure I have it all the way right, but interesting in your thoughts.

Could they be used to grow organs?  Possibly.  But the way sick Teddy grabbed the MiB's knife and just shut him down and then with a Power Word from Ford went from fading to totally fine in an instant indicates these hosts are not human.

That's actually a really cool plot for a story... but I don't think this one.

The intermediate step of a theme park seems like a lot of overhead.
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Spray bottles and some medical thingy were invented for the original series of Star Trek. Sometimes there's more resources to play with for R&D if it's not trying to do what it end up doing.
  • Oh I think immortality as a consciousness loaded into a host is on the cards in this thing.

Unless the theme park came first and then people in the real world started seeing the potential of the technology created there. I feel like there might be something like that coming in the plot - Maybe it's this, maybe something else, but I feel like if there is a park like Westworld out there that many of the world's elite have visited, some of them have to have thought of ways to implement the tech in the real world.
