That is really tragic. I sincerely feel that I would want to go White Hat. But I know loads of people might want to go seriously dark. Not just anti-hero, but Jeffrey Dahmer evil.
It could even be more about story style, maybe there were hundreds of Lord of The Rings-esque story lines. Battles where things get serious but beauty and the light always win. A more modern look might be The Martian, where there isn't a any villain at all, just the very best side of humanity working together to save one man. (I'm not counting the guy who wasn't sure if a 5 life for 1 life gamble was practical, he didn't plot to kill Mark). There's danger and fear, but those are uplifting stories and even in their darkest, they are screaming the message "people are good! never give up hope!"
Maybe people only went with the Game of Thrones/Sopranos story lines. People are inherently scummy. Power corrupts. People playing honorably are stupid and easily taken advantage of. The most compelling characters are the ones who can eat dinner with someone and then dismember them. Everything is always going to go dark, so why try being a white hat at all? The messages in those stories seem to be "people are wretched and evil!" "there is no hope!"
If I was writing stories and saw that side of humanity constantly winning. I don't know. It might break my optimism for humanity.
Maybe that was what allowed Ford to bring in the moneymen / Delos. It allowed them to continue their research while appeasing the money men by making the park an attraction.

I keep thinking Delos is the company Logan and William work for. When William passes the WW logo it doesn't say "a delos destination" as I believe it does in other appearances (or I'm mis-remembering).
